its county down, northern ireland.... south south east of Belfast... and dang Nice looks awesome....
NAM + CAM + RAM + SAM, that's how I roll....

CarmineHilton

I was wondering if it would be possible to maybe re-scale the Nice map a bit so that the airport area could be one tile (or almost 1 tile)...
Is that possible? :)

mightygoose - ah, ok.  I'll put your request for county down, northern ireland on the list.  Thanks for the request, gives me another map to do for Northern Ireland

CarmineHilton - In order to do that, I'd have to do the map over again as I deleted the DEM after I finished the map.

Now that I'm feeling a little better and getting a bit restless, I've decided to post the pics of the remaining maps of the French Riviera that I completed with papab2000's help a few months ago.  There were 8 total maps made, the first you already know about available on the LEX, Monaco-Nice, with the remaining seven Arles, Beziers, Cannes, Toulon, Marseille, Sete-Agde and Perpignan ready to go minus the readmes.  I plan to release six of them as 3 2-Paks with Perpignan being the only other solo release outside of the Monaco-Nice map.

NHP French Riviera Map Pak 1 File size: 5.64mb

Arles:  This region is a 6x7 [24km x 28km] sized map and is 1.99mb file size minus the pics:

Beziers:  This region is a 7x7 [28km x 28km] sized map and is 2.81mb in file size minus the pics:

NHP French Riviera Map Pak 2 File size: 5.45mb

Cannes: This region is a 7x7 [28km x 28km] sized map and is 2.38mb in file size minus the pics:

Toulon: This region is a 6x7 [24km x 28km] sized map and is 2.27mb in file size minus the pics:

NHP French Riviera Map Pak 3 File size: 5.65mb

Marseille: This region is a 8x7 [32km x 28km] sized map and is 3.04mb in file size minus the pics:

Sete-Agde: This region is a 6x7 [24km x 28km] sized map and is 1.79mb in file size minus the pics:

Perpignan: This region is a 10x9 [40km x 36km] sized map and is 5.77mb in file size minus the pics:

I'll be releasing these projects two at a time over the month of April with the first release peobably next week sometime and the final two a couple of weeks later.  After these have been released and beginning sometime in May, the next series of maps and paks will come from the land down under of which at the moment there are roughly 50 areas where DEM data has been collected already partially processed.  The first batch of Aussie maps will be from the New South Wales and Victoria provinces.  I have gathered data for all major cities in the country plus dozens of other points of interest.  Keep checking back here for further details.

Hello!

Someone over at ST recommended I check out the NHP threads over here and I'm very glad I did.  I have been trying to figure out how to create scale accurate SC4 region maps from USGS DEM files, but getting nowhere in a hurry fast.  I found an (old) tutorial over on ST, printed it out and tried to follow it, but it's pretty outdated in regards to obtaining the USGS info, so I stumped before I can even get started.  If anyone here would care to teach me the process, I would be most grateful.  I'd even join the team and make more maps, write an up-to-date tutorial.  I'm currently unemployed and have lots of time on my hands.  If no one wants to teach me the process, then maybe Blake25K could make a map for me?  I have found an area in Alaska I would really like to turn into a very large region (ala 3RR) of 40 miles square centered around the Copper River Delta.  I downloaded a map years ago from the STEX called "Katalla" which was made from USGS data, but it is not accurately scaled.  I didn't know that at the time and spent a lot of time hand-terraforming the region (standard SC4 size) using the God Mode tools (all we had back then).  I got to the point where I was ready to try my hand at creating some natural and realistic watersheds across the region before I become discouraged with the ploppable water tools available at the time and abandoned the project.  Now that I am unemployed and bored out of my skull, I revisted my region and ST, found 3RR, all the new mapping tools, and some EXCELLENT ploppable water tools, found SC4D, and now I'm all fired up to get back to where I left off.  But this time I want to start off with an accurately scaled real world map.

Of the two options (learning how to do it myself or having someone else do it for me), I'd really rather learn how to do it myself.

Anyone volunteer to teach me?

Lora/LD

First of all; thanks again for those lovely maps. You know I really appreciate that one from Nice ;)

Apart from that, on your new maps, several water bodies have been left out, why?
For example: Bassin de Thau has been totally left out Sète-Agde map... The map of Arles is also missing a lot of water on the bottom left.

Was this done on purpose? :)

Hi there, just wanted to pop in and proffer my sincere thanks for doing Kauai, Hawaii. I realize you probably made it a while back so this is nothing new, but I just found it and thank GOODNESS, since my last attempt at making a map was aborted in frustration and confusion. You've made me very happy, thank you for all this effort.

You realize after a while you're gonna do the whole world, right? Then what? Mars? :P
