Mayor Hooter Hillcrank wishes to extend his heart-felt thanks to the governors' office for extending the time limit on recently-ordered construction.

The mayor laid off several individuals in his planning department after studying the governors' first project assessment. As a result, one disgrundled employee left behind an unwelcome parting gift – an especially malicious computer virus.

For more than a week, interregional communication was impossible, and all construction-related activities ground to a halt. The system is operable now, however, and work has been completed as ordered.

Following a bitter fight between the North and South factions of GRV, the Mayor's administrative staff decided to award one utility contract to each sector.

The Southern Sector was charged with providing the region with power. The Governors' orders:

You are asked to build a Power station/plant, or anything that will be able to sustain a small town with electrical energy in a strategical location.  Then you will hire about 30 to 35 simworkers to take care of and maintain it and making sure that they have a place to stay nearby, on the same tile.

This Waste-to-Energy facility uses modern filtering techniques, designed by Fukitol Industries, to produce dependable power with minimum air pollution. SimGoober Power & Light (SGPL) is located in Dimebox (Tile D).

West of the plant, eight trailers and two permanent structures house two foremen and temporary workers hired to oversee the plant's start-up operation.

To the east, a storage lot is being stocked with supplies necessary to construct and maintain a power grid. Supplies include cables, wiring, transformers and yellow barrels filled with sticky goo.

The North sector was charged with providing clean water for the many Sims expected to settle in GRV during the years to come. After much debate on costs, potential pollution and aesthetics reflecting the sector's overall self image, the plant was located in Lobster Point (Tile L) near the shore. The Governors' orders:

Then another thing that is as important, if not more important, is the water source. Clean, pure and fresh water for your sims. Again you need to hire about a dozen or so sim workers to work on the site, making sure that they have a place to stay nearby on the same tile.

The Newman Inc. Water Co. won the contract to install and maintain a reliable water source which is able to expand production and meet the needs of a growing population.

Mayor Hillcrank was able to provide this close-up shot as well:

East of the new facility, a remodeled barn houses the workers needed to start up and maintain the operation. Bunkhouse-type sleeping quarters flank a large common area where employees enjoy all the comforts of home. Residents take turns doing farm chores and, in return, are allowed to take a half day off and fish in the nearby river. The lawnmower is currently out of service - the spark plug disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

The newly-constructed Road 22 begins by forming a junction with Road 10 in Hard Rock (H), extends through Glowfly Springs (G) and ends in Dimebox (D) where it connects to SimNation. The Governors' order:

Then one last favour the Governor asks is to build another road/street/SAM ... So, if you have showed us the picture of tile B (example) in your first challenge, you will have to start from this tile and have to at least cross over 2 more tiles (to make it a total of 3) to connect to the neighboring region (simland).

.

Respectfully submitted,
Jmouse

*EDIT Road 22 was designed to intersect with Road 10 in Appleyard (Tile A) with no costly curves or bends - all that is left to do is construct a bridge in Dimebox (Tile B) to form a rectangle. It is the first of two or three rectangles which will complete the primary transport system and allow traffic to flow freely between the north and south sectors.

Nicely done Joan. I knew you'd come up with something interesting. I like the idea of putting them across the border from each other. One thing that I hear repeated in economics and trade classes (especially the Intl Trade one I took last semester) is that trade fosters peace (not going to break up relations with someone you trade with). I like that you put these where they were based on a fight, hopefully this will work to help make amends (or it could just serve as leverage down the line). Good work.

I'm glad you scraped in Joan, but "sticky goo"  %confuso , I'm sure I packed them with radioactive waste  :)

Nice work my fellow NUT, all is good, particularily the converted barn and it's also great to see the trailers making an appearance

Quoteone disgrundled employee left behind an unwelcome parting gift

I feel your pain ... but ... gee ... blending it into the story line gave me a good chuckle. Nice screen grabs!

OK Joan who was that disgrundled employee??? Was it Paul or Dave who left that baggie near that computer??? Looking real great here in this second challenge and I cant wait to see what you do for number 3!!!

Don't forget the SC4D Podcast is back and live on Saturdays @ 12 noon CST!! -- The Podcast soon to Return Here Linkie

Hey Matt! Guess I do need a lawyer to help me out with this stuff! &mmm All I had in mind at the time was running straight access lines and pipes across the middle to save money. It's been quite a while since I thought of budgets or "real" mayoring, but this experience has certainly been a real eye-opener!

Dave, the sensors were out of order when they hauled in those yellow barrels, but a workman did check the contents. Haven't seen him since, but you know what they say - you just can't get good help anymore! :D Glad you liked the looks of things - barring more unforeseen difficulties, development should commence any day now.

Thanks for stopping by, Jim. It's just a matter of making the best of all those lemons life throws our way! ;)

Pat, I can't wait to see what I do for "number 3" either! I must say, though, that I can't remember ever having so much fun and so many headaches at the same time! Good luck to you - and all who...

Later...

Judgement of Challenge 2

A.  Although in first view your new route looked good, but unfortunetly it only gave new access to one new tile. We gave you 3 points for the route challenge.
B.  Good choice of lots and probablty the only one to have chosen a Waste-to-Energy facility in this challenge. Well done and well placed, just a little too close to the worker's homes. Very nicely done residential area for the workers. We gave you 4 points for this challenge mainly for the original and unique idea and for the worker's homes.
C.   Very good location of the well chosen waterlot, nicely fenced in. We gave you 4 points for the water challenge. Just one question though...is there an access road somwehere?

A Total of 11 Points were added to your challenge.

Congratulations, fairly well done. Details are wonderful. Good luck with the next challenge.

Hi kakimalaki, and welcome to our forums. The storage lots were created by my fellow NUT, tooheys. You can find them here on the LEX.

Enjoy...
