As my wife is an esthetician, the reference to a city's depilation is much appreciated.  However, as much as my hairy armpits suggest otherwise, I don't think the solution involves waxing.

I have demolished a few cities in the region which may have been contributing to the eternal commuter problem.  Does demolishing a city help with that, or just removing neighbor connections?  I.E.  If I demolished the city (by the way, the autosaurus was underwhelming among the skyscrapers, and I couldn't get most of them to catch fire) but left the neighbor connections intact from the other cities, would it still send commuters to a blank city in search of jobs?  I did both, but I wondered about it.  Also, I have been loading and running each city (each city left) for a few in-game years to try and normalize the situation.  It seems to be working.  I need to do that to get each city to understand the new configuration of the region, right?  Or am I wasting my time?  (maybe let's not wonder about wasting time. . .)

As for the demand capacity bug with CAM, one post suggested I build a city with the express purpose of fulfilling part of the regional commercial and industrial demand.  How do I find out how large this city needs to be?  I assume it's related to one of the many incomprehensible numbers in the census repository (is there a tutorial out there for that thing somewhere?) but I still can't make heads or tails of it, maybe because my region is a little fubared, or maybe because I just don't get it.  I'm assuming in the census dialogue box "neighborhood" means region, but I can't tell if it means "region excluding this city" or "region as a whole."

I'll look into the pathing issue, although the problem was before I discovered one-way roundabouts, I may have exacerbated it with roundabout-mania since then.

I assume you demolished the city for reasons other than the eternal commuter problem, as otherwise, that's extreme overkill.  The fastest way to demolish a city and leave it with its original terrain is through the entry on the God Mode menu.

To be absolutely sure of breaking an eternal commuter loop, all you have to do is break all neighbor connections between two cities in the loop.  (Don't forget the subways.)  A full discussion of the eternal commuter problem and how to avoid it can be found in the CAM Manual.

To avoid the worst effects of the CAM Demand bug, you need to get the Available Vacant Jobs number in the Census Repository to be positive.  A separate city can go a long way toward doing this.  But if you have many cities in your region, then depending on your region's layout, you may find that building a few dense little office parks can be very helpful as well.

This whole issue can be rather complex, and if you have further questions, I'd suggest asking them on the CAM board, which is a child board of the BSC Team.  Good luck!

Yeah, I used the god mode in the end.  I have a tradition of seeing what kind of havoc I can unleash on a city before that. . . I've often wished for a more. . . destructive. . . aspect to the game.  Since the region here is a "learning" region, intended only to familiarize myself with NAM, CAM, SAM, and some of the other *really cool* stuff that's surfaced since I last played, I'm not to bothered about losing a city here and there.  I actually abandoned the whole region in the end, because a lot of it was based on HSR, which I haven't gotten to work at all yet, and the regional capacities were so out of whack that I felt starting over would make more sense than struggling to regain some kind of balance.  The GHSR seems to work fine, but either I haven't figured out how to use HSR properly or it just doesn't work.  I tried the "drawpaths" cheat on it, and somehow the little arrows won't show no matter how many times I demolish and rebuild it, except for where the hsr tex has broken and the monorail tex shows.  Thanks for all the help again!

the HSR does work.....the paths just aren't easily visible.

the paths are at 15.5m.....whereas the top of the track model is at 16m......so, they're just covered up.  they a bit easier top view at the outter zooms....
