Does anyone know a good recipe for growing cam farms?  I have been unable to grow farms beyond stage 2, despite a sprawling population of uneducated, unhealthy, fire-prone sims.  Is there a specific requirement, i.e. x-number of region/city $-sims or something?  I've got an entire large tile city that I've built for the express purpose of getting these farms, and I'm well into 50 in-game years of zoning and dezoning and waiting to see what grows.  I've got so far, a hundred or so stage 1 farms, and 10 stage 2 farms, about 20k irritatingly neglected sims with no parks or anything, and a headache from trying to figure out what the city needs to do differently to grow higher stage farms.  Anyone out there been more successful with the stage 3+ farms in cam, and if so, how?

Hi ramseyazad! The CAM manual gives you the requirements for CAM farms. Above level 3, they have water, fire and park caps, and will also require a significant regional capacity. I usually have a large tile city that has both industrial and commercial capacity, with a highly educated population, that I connect with rail to medium rural tiles. I also block all the Maxis farms with the BSC blocker, and have a bunch of JMyers, CSX and SG downloads.

I had a hard time getting them, too, and did quite a bit of experimenting with distributing rural and large cities within a region. It takes time, but getting the higher stage farms to grow is very rewarding!
