Challenge 3

The story:

A few weeks ago, the people from Whitehills felt uncomfortable. Since they are a minority, they feel that they lose a lot of power to the rest of the country, especially to the people of Lagevelden. There were rumours about seperation from the rest of the country, with the purpose to gain back their power over their own area.

These rumours were also reaching the Gouvernour. At first, he thought that it's all a big prank, but when all signs are pointing to the seperation of Whitehills, he sees that, to his horror, this rumour soon would be reality. And a revolution was the last thing the country can use now! He hoped that this is just only a rumour after all, and decided to sleep on it before making any decision.

That night, a train driver, who was on his way to Grensstad, sees that near the Loyerburg Bridge, people were making a block on the railway track. Fortunatly, the track where he was driving on wasn't blocked yet, so he was able drive to Grensstad. He informed to the other trains to avoid the bridge, to prevent any casualties or damage to the trains.

In the morning, it became clear what had happened that night; Whitehills had declared seperation from the rest of the state. The Gouvernour's worst fear had become reality. In the hope that this situation would not escalate any further, the Gouvernour tried to solve this situation with diplomacy. Apparently, the just founded Council of Whitehills also thought that diplomacy is the best way to handle this case. So the next morning, the Gouvernour and the Council had a meeting. There was a discussion about a lot of important subjects and sometimes both parties could hardly agree about some subjects. But one decision from the Gouvernour satisfied both parties; He recognized the state of Whitehills, because he understood the reason why Whitehills seperated from the rest of the country. At the end both parties hope that this conflict will remain a peaceful and a diplomatic one...

The Region

Here is the last numbered road of Grensstad-Bordertown, the N2. This road has been build before the Seperation and is an important route to the south

From now on, my power is limited to the south half of the region. It's because more people are living there, plus this part is more builded in my style (urban).

The Current Cities
This is the main city, Noordhove (Tile F):

This piece is pretty flat, so it's easy to construct a large city on this tile. It's also constucted on a main route to the south.

Here we see the power lines coming from Grensstad, crossing through Noordhove:

Here's another close-up from Noordhove.

At the other end of the region we have Pattersville. This is a very rural town

Grensstad/Bordertown has not been changed:

Blocked bridges
The third part of the challenge is about cutting of bridges at the border. Since there are two bridges crossing the border in my region, I thought this was easy. The hard part is to find the right LOTs for the rail block. This is not the best thing that I showed, but it's an solution:

You see that they had enough time to build a wall, but the rail catenaries are still standing there...

The road bridge has not been blocked, but instead, there's a toll gate at the side of Whitehills

Well, that's it for now

Best,
Maarten

Fred is gone fishing and I will be the Governess and take care of business today. You made nice job and  Your town looks very nice.

«Thank you for your update.

We have now taken note and copied the pictures of your challenge 3, it will be judged after the deadline.
Now you can do whatever you wish to do within your regionhalf only, but make sure not to overbuild it comparing to the rest of the region. It might give you some serious problems later on.
You do NOT have the right to touch anything of the part that belongs to the Separatists.

Challenge 4 will be partially given by your adversary and you will give a challenge to someone else. Who will be challenging who and the matter of the challenge will be discussed in the Challenge 4 thread once everyone has turned in their part of this challenge.

Are you ready to be told what to do by a Separatist and a Governor? Good luck and we hope you enjoyed this one.

Your region looks really nice. Is that a euro texture for dedgren's rural roads puzzle pieces I see?

I like the aerial view of Pattersville with the octagon shaped ring road and interior cul-de-sacs'.

I am also very impressed that (according to your profile) a youngster from the Netherlands can write such a nice story in English.

Challenges are getting harder to do, so does the judging, and we soon need more time to judge the challenges. I know this took awhile but we have been working on it for quite awhile and since our judging is being done separately, we have to bring them together before presenting the final results. Thank you for being patient. So here it is.

A.  The route N2 is unfortunetly not in the most logical location, going through already accessed tiles. The northeast is still without an official route. We gave you 3 points for the route challenge.
B.  The rockwall on the rails are very well done and nicely thought of. The road control is somewhat poorly constructed. We gave you 4 points for the rail cutoffs.
C.  The rest of the region is well done. The village growing around the *big curve* is very good imagined and towns are fairly well done. We liked the little town on the river images. Farms are a little too *square* for our liking, although some areas in RL have these styles of farms. We gave you a solid 4 points for the regional works.

A Total of 11 Points were added to your challenge.

In general nicely done, the towns are starting to look interesting and we are sure they will be quite enjoyable to look at the next time we come around. The story is nice too. We did not judge the pictures yet, but in the futur you must make certain to turn off the grid by hitting the *G* key on your keyboard. It will be negatively judged the next time. Good luck with the separatists.
