Hey guys! I haven't been here in so long it seems! I've been really busy with university and all that, so you know SC4 comes in second. :P

Q1: So recently, I've been making a tropical region in SC4. I'm using Goldiva's trop-tree set (from STEX), and Jeronij's ploppable mayor mode trees Vol2 - for the tropical stuff. But this is killing me, my region is too big to keep using mayor mode plop for these trees, so I went ahead and tried to make a tree controller.

In Reader, I opened Cp's Italia tree controller (which I'm not using in SC4), so I could get a sense of what a tree controller is like. This is really, really making me crazy. :P I was wondering if there was a way to replace some of the trees in Italia controller with another tree (like Goldivas coconut and Jeronij's ulmus). In reader I see a lot of exemplar files, and when I click on one the exemplar name is a tree - like cottonwood, lodgepole, etc.

Also, if I can replace an exemplar with a different tree, could I delete the rest of the exemplars I don't use without corrupting the file? All I really want in this controller is Coconut tree, banana tree, ulmus, and of course Cp's elm. Besides that, I'm not really concerned with what height the trees appear - that doesn't matter. ;)

Q2: Still on the subject of mayor mode ploppables, can anyone help me with mayor mode ploppables? I've heard that they're actual 3d models - not exported models/images. Anyway, I've made a sort of "beach hut" in 3ds max - much like Heblem's beach huts on STEX - but I want these to be plopped at a random direction, like tree plops and jeronij's plop water.

If anyone could help me with this, or point to a tutorial, I'll be really thankful. :)

I can't offer much "Hands On" help , but the tutorial by Jeronij How to create Plopable items for the Mayor Menu may help as well as  Davids (Dedgren) PlopperizerTMTutorial.

Brian (c.p./cycledogg) is ...surprise, surprise... the go-to guy for this stuff.  I'll see what I can do through BSC channels- he's always been one to help.

Hey thanks David! Is Brian even active anymore? ()what()

Edit:   Yesss! I actually did it! Yay! I edited the exemplar file for the elm trees in the CPTNo7 files by Cycledogg, adding JRJ's Ulmus Americana trees, and holy heck it WORKED! My first modding achievement, if you don't include lots. But one problem - the exemplar-type I entered for Goldivas coconut trees didn't show up ingame. Dang. :( / :)

Anyway, the next question would be: how do I apply a 3d model (for mayor mode plop) into a tree exemplar. Then I could use that exemplar in my tree controller...
