Home city! Lost my turn more than 6 times, but finally did it!  :)

@cogeo: The ancestors of my wife came from Thessaloniki (or Selanik which is the Turkish name). We wanted to go there several times as it isn't that far away from Istanbul but there has been always something that kept us from going there ...  /wrrd%&

Ulm, Germany.

Interesting Thing:
Ulm belongs to Baden-Württemberg, whereas Neu Um (New Ulm) just on the opposite side of the Danuvbe belongs to Bayern.

Wanganui, North Island New Zealand.

Home to my beloved Nana and Grandad. Of late the maori (native inhabitants of New Zealand) have been lobbying the "New Zealand Geographical Board" to change the name to "Whanganui", claiming it has no meaning spelled the other way (It supposedly means harbour "Whanga" big "nui" so, Big Harbour). The mayor of Wanganui, Michael Laws says he will never let this come to pass. The river has had its official name changed to include the "H" already, but the majority of people either don't care or don't want it to change. Unfortunately the city has a terrible problem with gangs, and recently introduced a by-law forbidding gang patches in public places.

I hope this hasn't already been done! ;D

Baden-Baden
Germany

Rather old town with Roman Roots. Famous for its therman springs and baths (that's where the name comes from it means bath/bathe). Also famous for its Casino ... :-\

The city is really nice as it wasn't destroyed in WWII. Administration center of the french occupation zone after the German capitulation on May 8th 1945. Nowadays a lot of the expensive vitrines show russian letter.

The rather big German radio SWR is located here, too

Car plate sign is BAD.

In Romanian cities you can find a lot of "second hand" trams - this one comes from Augsburg (Germany).
