Thx Chris, looks like my Mayor's House has just been upgraded $%Grinno$%

To look good a normal land only lot lot has to be the lowest and closest possible to the water.

hey, thanks guys.

A few observations I'll be basing some changes off of, let's see if yall agree:

--From Carkid's pic in particular, I think I made the ramp too wide by a fair margin, it's supposed to be for a single boat, but it's wide enough for two &Thk/(, so I'm going to narrow it down.
--For the sake of lotters (and maybe future plans), position the ramp in the center of a tile so it'll line up with textures.  Should've done that to start with, but hey... ::)
--I'm thinking of desaturating the wood colors a little, good idea or no?
--I've got to fix the back as shown in the upper left hand corner of Rayden's lower right hand corner pic, I've got an idea how.

taking any other suggestions as well.

I'd originally intended this back in the day as the first look into a possible new waterfront kit kinda thing, intended for river or lake front areas, connecting residential developement or park area to that waterfront in an organic kinda way, so this is a great start towards that.  But for now I'll work towards releasing this as a stand alone until I have time to develop those ideas further.

I really appreciate everyone's help, keep an eye out for the next version :).

Chris,

A boat ramp is a much needed addition to the game, and you were impressively fast in providing this very good looking one. I like the heigth at which it was rendered (basically at sealevel). One thing I don't realy like about most waterfront stuff is the fact that they are quite high above sealevel (3m in some cases), which require either long access ramps or unrealistically steep stairs to reach them on the back side.

I would suggest:

- removing the wooden barrier aside of the ramp and on the opposite side of the dock, and fill both sides of the ramp by a wall of the same ramp texture (i.e., make the ramp a block). As it is, depending on the slope of the seashore, the ramp may look floating above the beach sand if the sides are left open.

- I would also lower the dock to be at the same level of the wooden side alleys and the start of the ramp (it seems slightly above from the pictures).

- I think desaturating the color of the wood is good. Perhaps also making the pillars become grayish or greenish as they go down to simulate the typical dirt & degradation water does on wood.

- Since you are already narrowing the ramp, I would also suggest making the ramp plus the dock as one separate prop and the wooden water front side alley as another prop. It would be even better if each of these props were 16m wide. This would leave lotters flexibility on how to arrange & combine the ramp and the waterfront alley. For example, one ramp + one alley would match the width of Rayden's Mayor beach house.

These props would be great to be used in a fishing harbor kit. They would also look very good on a transparent plopable water lake or river.
