io_bg: Thank you, my friend!

Darra (darraghf): Thanks! It can definitely try the patience, though, I'll admit.

Arthur (art128): Thank you, Arthur!

Battlecat: Thanks, my friend!

Luke (Luke09): Libraries, eh? That's good thinking! I never thought about them. We'll get some in there for you, don't worry! Take care!

bat: Thanks, bat!

Vivien (Earth quake): Thank you, Vivien!

Jon (JBSimio): Hi, Jon! Thank you so much for your very kind words, my friend! I'm glad that you noticed the small details and planning that go into all of these areas. It's those things that actually trip me up at first, too! I'll build something, then go into the game and realize that it doesn't line up, so I have to go back and forth, and back and forth, and...we'll you get the idea! Oh, and of course, give my regards to all my friends in North Carolina! I will be down again very soon. Take care, Jon!

nrmn67: Thank you so much! I never thought of the area as a planned section like you mentioned, but I love the idea. Thanks!

Joan (Jmouse): Hi, Joan! No problem, my friend—there's so much to see here at SC4D, you can get lost! No matter how often, it's always wonderful to have you here! Thanks for coming by!

Alex (Driftmaster07): Thank you, Alex!

citycapitalizer: Wow! Thanks for such a wonderful compliment! To have my work mention in the same breath as my friend Adam (Ennedi) is fantastic! Thanks for stopping in!

Thomas (turtle): Hi, Thomas! It's great to see you! I'm so happy you're enjoying things, and I hope to see you again very son!

carkid1998: Thanks! And don't worry about running out of space, there's always more!

Haljackey: Thanks so much!

Alex (Driftmaster07: Hey, Alex! There's a few different trees that I use, but if you let me know which ones I use that you're looking for, I'll do my best to help you out! Take care!

Rogier (rajacobs): Hello, Rogier! Welcome to Marathon—it's so fantastic to have you here, my friend! Thank you so very much for your very wonderful comments and compliments, they mean very much to me! I hope to see you around here more often! Take care!

Don (homefryes): Hi, Don! Don't worry about being absent, my friend! I hope that you enjoyed your vacation, we need them from time to time, right? Thank you for your congratulations, and the second that it's eligible, Ashtabula will bet my vote for the Hall of Fame! You've got something great going over there in the Buckeye State! Hope to see you again soon, Don!

Dan (dsrwhat316): Hey, Dan! Thank you so much for such great compliments, my friend, and for the advice, too! I will be checking out your suggestions next time I fire up the LE! Oh, and it's my pleasure mentioning you in the podcast, you've been a huge help to me! Take care, my friend!

So, I've still been concentrating on the Abitibi Square region, though, I've taken a step back from the LE for a bit, and I'm trying to fill in some other sections in an effort to complete the entire tile...one of these days, of course! Here's how it looks right now...

...complete with the new Sky Background Mod by your good friend and mine, Adam (Ennedi)!

As for the development thus far, the custom section of Abitibi Square is supposed to be a cultural section nestled amongst a commercial section, hence all the wonderful NDEX buildings surrounding it right now. None of the new development has been customized by me, they're just plopped, and I'm actually quite happy with how it looks!

For those of you that are fond of the custom work, don't fret, though—there's still a few sections that need filling in, and I have a couple of tricks up my sleeves yet!

Also, if you haven't already, head over to the June 2009 Edition of the SC4Devotion Podcast, hosted by our good friend Matt (threestooges), where "yours truly" is in the hot seat! Thanks again to Matt and Pat for their work with the Podcast, and for giving me the honor of being interviewed this month.

More from Marathon to come!

woodb3kmaster

Looking good as usual, Dustin! NDEX skyscrapers are definitely among the best, I think, and you've managed to arrange them quite nicely around Abitibi Square. I'll have to go hunt for some of the ones I don't recognize and add them to my collection...

Keep up the mind-bogglingly great work!

Zack

It's coming together well, Dustin!     I'm hoping for some closer looks in the future, but I definitely like where this is headed.

Oh yes... I completely understand the back and forth syndrome when it comes to this game.  I don't know how many times I've exited to the region (thinking I'm about done for the day) only to spot that one little thing that "I really should fix."  Next thing you know, I'm right back in the tile I just left for another hour or more!  :D  (And I'm even worse when it comes to the BAT... so we won't even go down that road!)

I heard the podcast earlier today (I guess yesterday, now) and really enjoyed it.  It's always nice to hear the voices and, even more, the thoughts behind the scenes.  I just really love getting that inside look into the people I've come to know around here.  Also, like Dan, I really (and by that I mean REALLY) appreciate the mention at the end there.  Flattering to say the least!

See you next time!
JB

Wow. I can see you're a big fan of Il Tonkso's BATs :P. It looks a lot better when there's something to take up the empty space. Good luck with the next update, I'm waiting eagerly for it.

Hey Dustin! Great update. I need the trees (and flower things) that are in the sort of red flower area.
Like the ones on the Underground Parking lot of yours in Aribiti Square. Thanks,  Alex

EDIT: Also Dustin... I have a favor to ask of you. Could you lot JUST the dock from this link for me? my LE doesnt work, and you are the only person I can think of at the moment who uses the Lot Editor and SC4Tool extensively. Thanks, Alex

Hey Dustin,

Love how this tile is coming along.  Although I am not one for large grandiose parks and plazas in my cities, yours is looking pretty good.  I always figure, if I am trying to do a realistic city than the land would be worth too much too place so many parks and plazas.  Just my way of thinking.  Anyways, you know me and my style....dirty with very few parks.  ;)  Most of the buildings downtown Toronto place parks/plazas on thier own properties and are obviously responsible than to take care of it themselves.  There is enough City owned parks, and some fairly large ones too.  But I wonder if it was a mandate or something like that for the buildings to have so much park/plaza area.  If it is, great idea.
I also had a listen to the podcast....great interview.  Great to hear your vioce.  Now we know the face and the voice.  And you gave me way too much credit.  I was just there nudging you along.  It was you that took all the steps....and very big ones they were.
BTW, I just got something. ;)
Have a great day and I'll look forward to your next update and I'll look for you on MSN.

Seeya,
Robin

Hi Dustin,

Thanks for your kind welcome. Love the new development! Are you planning of filling up the entire island eventually? I'm curious to see your next steps. Hopefully there'll be some more open spaces, I really like how you create open space in your cities.

Regards,
Rogier

Nice pic Dustin,Abitibi Square is looking really nice. Will you make mass transit there?i mean to people go to the centre of the island(Abitibi is the centre right?).And about the libraries,if you could, would be nice  ::)

Take care.

Zack (woodb3kmaster): Thanks, Zack! There are so many fantastic NDEX buildings that it's tough to get all of them! Good luck on your hunt, though, and if there's any that you that you see here that you can't identify, let me know and I'll help as best I can!

Jon (JBSimio): Thank you, Jon! That back-and-forth syndrome gets you every time, doesn't it? Sometimes it's a lot of fun, especially when you finished something and you want to see how it looks, but other times it can get a bit frustrating. Oh, and it was my pleasure to mention you and your work in the podcast, my friend! I should be thanking you for all the wonderful work you do! And here it is...THANK YOU! Take care, Jon!

Darra (darraghf): Thanks, my friend! Yes, his BATs are fantastic, aren't they?

bat: Thanks!

Arthur (art128): Thank you, Arthur!

Alex (Driftmaster07): Hi, Alex! Thank you so much for your wonderful comments! As for your lotting request, I am flattered that you would ask me! As you can see here on a regular basis, I've got my hands full with Marathon-related stuff, but I will definitely see what I can do for you and get back to you. Hope to see you again soon!

Robin (rooker1): Hi, Robin! Good to see you, my friend! You're right about all the open space, too—with real estate at a premium in urban areas, it's tough to get a balance. That just means that Marathon will have to build up instead of out! Oh, and thanks for the kind words about the podcast, too, though you most certainly did more than "nudge" me along. In fact, I think I didn't give you enough credit! I hope all is well with your family and little Alyssa! Take care, my friend!

Rogier (rajacobs): Hi, Rogier! I'm so happy you like the new development, my friend! To answer your question, the entire island will absolutely be filled up, however, the caveat lies in your final word—"eventually!" But don't worry, everything that I do will be documented here, so you can follow along with each step! And I'm sure there'll be more open spaces, too! Thanks for stopping by, Rogier!

Luke (Luke09): Thanks, Luke! As for mass transit, the large station at the bottom is meant to be a central bus station, and there are sections of some of the lots designed to look like subway station entrances, too (though not modded to actually be subway stations, unfortunately...), so there's definitely mass transit in the area. Abitibi Square is a bit north of center on the island, but since it's a cultural center, mass transit is a must! Take care!

Geoff (calibanX): Hi, Geoff! Thanks for your kind words, my friend! And, I don't think I could finish quickly! Some of the lotting can be a bit time consuming. It's OK, though, it's all worth it in the end! Hope to see you again here soon!

Joe (JoeST): Thank you, Joe!

Wait one moment here...it's a bit past 11:30 AM here in Pennsylvania (GMT -4)...and...I'm awake?!!? What's next, a blizzard in June? Anyway...there's been some great new stuff added to the LEX in the past few days, and I've been playing around, as usual...

Case in point—Set Three of the New York City Housing Projects by our good friend and master creator, marcszar. These housing project buildings are so wonderful, I could fill an entire tile with them and not bat an eyelash! If you haven't played around with them yet, any of the sets, head over to the LEX and check them out!

In the meantime, more from Marathon will be coming shortly! I have a few ideas that I'm tossing around in my head, though nothing set in stone yet. We'll see where things take us!

In a bit!

Earth quake

Nice update dustin.
