FrankU,

There are some stages of fall (I don't know if I call them correctly) in PEG's canal set. Look at this photo (this is an old one - from 2005  ;D)

Maybe you can make use of them?
You can see also another transition on this photo - between PEG's canals and ponds.

If you have some ideas about inland ports, quays etc, I would be very happy!

I must think, but don't guarantee the result  ;D
In my opinion Shaun made a fantastic work with his ponds transitions to Cal's canals. It is difficult to expect anything more, various mods containing water tiles were made by various people who had various concepts and working techniques. It is practically impossible to harmonize all this stuff without some tricks (such as covering the seam by a bridge, foam etc.)

Actually, it's pretty simple to get them to look the same, all it requires is people sharing their work a little.   ;)  Unfortunatly this isn't always the case and I was lucky Lee was kind enough to help me out when I started.

Oh yes, I hope I didn't give the impression that I was not impressed by Shaun's work! It's great! It's just that, well, like anyone, I always like to have more and different things than what someone else is thinking of....
The more there is, the more questions are raised.

Indeed, transitions from any canal to any other canal would be very good, but are a lot of work. Therefore I sometimes just put things next to each other without really connecting them. Many canal types here in the Netherlands are connected by underground canals or pipes. I could simulate that without problem. On the other hand it would be sooo nice to have a PEG scow floating form his CSK seaport over Jeronij's canals and then get stuck under Oppies Amsterdam Canal Bridge... $%Grinno$%

Yes, pity it isn't that way...
On the other hand: I thought of what would happen if the edges and the water were rendered as separate props and combined into one lot. Would it then not be possible to LE and edit your own desired waterprop into the lot? Probably not... Because it would have been done already.

Diggis

Nah, thats not really practicle because they are rendered below the ground level it's all an optical illusion which would be very very difficult to replicate int he manner you are talking.  Added to which you would lose the lovely reflections on Lee's water too.

FrankU

Yes, I thought so already.

Well, we can live perfectly with the existing situation.

And Ennedi: yes I know about other ways of connecting. Thanks anyway.

Diggis i got one question When do you make those DIAGONAL pieces? I'm dying to see some diagonal canal pieces my friend.
Also i got another request  :). I don't remember how that piece is call but it is the one that goes under the road bridges ( not the water tiles but the pond ones) I would love to see that as well. if you can see a picture of the LAKE on the last page. You will see what i'm talking about.

Diggis

Miguel,  thats 2 questions  :P

Diagonal pieces... hmmm... I've tried to do these before with the streams and had some serious problems.  They aren't the easiest thing in the world to do.  I haven't started work on them again yet, so you'll just have to be patient.  I want to get the grass stream set done and then I'll look at diagonals.

The underbridge pieces you want are already out.  They are 3x1 or 3x3 pieces on a 1x1 lot so they over hang to one side.  If you look for an icon which has an El-Rail in it they are the ones you want.

Diggis

OK, I've updated the sets to the correct water colour.  I've also updated the lot Icons and the lots to use the same method as the Grass ones, meaning that you will be able to plop what you want on the banks.

This should automatically update the Lots you already have, but if you want the ability to plop Mayor Mode ploppables onto the banks you will need to replop the lots.

Pat

Shaun thank you for your hard work on this!!! It means a lot to me and many others that you are taking great details to your pond set!!!  Now I just cant wait to get home to update everything now lol.....

On to other matters... Barby asked me to render some dock pieces for the grass banks so she could create rural docks for the CAN-AM.  I've only finished a few straight pieces and an end piece so far, but this is the result:

I've just pulled together a short pier (any one got recommendations for people to take a long walk? :2funny:)

As someone who just really got into using the pond set (besides testing), I really like the direction you've taken on this. Looking real good!

I like it a lot. I was thinking of making small water-side docks like that for my ARS as well.

&apls it looks splendid and a perfect use of the CAN-AM

Jmouse

Terrific work, Shaun! These piers be a pleasure to see in game - I definitely like them better than the ones I used before!

The good stuff just keeps getting better. Take me home! The wooden decking texture is to die for.

The stream or river water appears to me more choppy than the pond water. Or is it just me?
