The calming sounds of NIN:The downward spiral. Before I got married , I actually could fall asleep listening to this CD! Went to the NIN/JA show last month for my birthday , still as great live as when I saw NIN with David Bowie back in the mid 90s!

A blast from the past...1978 to be exact and one of the biggest hits of the year, "Hot Child In The City" by Nick Gilder.  Back in day when this was a monster hit in the summer of '78, I was 14 and this was about the most suggestive song I'd ever heard on radio...of course it became a favorite and still is one my favs to this day some 31 years later.  Of course nowadays, this would be considered very tame, but back in '78, it was a different story.

Lyrics:

Danger, in the shape of something wild
Stranger, dressed in black she's a hungry child
No-one knows who she is or what her name is
I don't know where she came from or what her game is

Hot child in the city
Hot child in the city
Running wild and looking pretty
Hot child in the city

So young to be loose and on her own
Young boys they all want to take her home
When she goes downtown the boys all stop and stare
When she goes downtown she walks like she just don't care...yeah

Hot child in the city
Hot child in the city...yeah
Running wild and looking pretty
Hot child in the city

Come down to my place baby we'll talk about love
Come down to my place woman we'll make...Love

Hot child in the city
Hot child in the city..she's kinda of dangerous
Hot child in the city ..young child
Running wild looking pretty...young child, running wild
Hot child in the city

repeat 9x

A "teaser track" from the recently formed band The Black Ships, which includes Nick McCabe and Simon Jones from The Verve.  Very psychedelic stuff--I can't wait to hear what else these guys come up with here soon.

As I type, it's one of Eiffel 65's lesser-known tracks from their 2001 album Contact!, titled "Morning Time." Up next in the iTunes DJ playlist is "Take Me Away" by Lifehouse.

Feel brand new. Be inspired.
