Has anyone ever thought about making some? I know we already have one way ROADS, but they do not look right in low density cities that have to much traffic for just streets. Thanks!

I don't quite see the point of such a new network. If you have too much traffic on your streets, just upgrade them to roads. Problem solved (hopefully).

Feel brand new. Be inspired.

It is not possible to create new networks unfortunately.  What would be possible, but not necessarily the easiest to implement would be a SAM-like override of the OWR Network to make it look like streets....  Although this would only be cosmetic it would still have the same properties of the OWR Network.  Everyone seems to be pretty busy with other projects that have the ability to do this, so I wouldn't hold my breath for something like this.

Well, it could be an override or puzzle-pieces based on the street network.

The Street network does not support one-way pathing and you will never be able to draw it properly for the paths to line up the way you want, especially at the intersections.

With puzzle pieces it is possible to create the paths and allow you the flexibility to line the paths up properly, but it is just as much work as overriding the OWR network.  And then there are disadvantages to overriding the OWR network as well.

Oh, I'm sorry, I had no idea.

In that case, I don't think this plan is going to go anywhere. There isn't much of a demand, and I think there are more exciting things that the NAM Team members are working on.

Dual-pathing a la STR would be the best option if this were the case. Though, it should be possible to support one-way pathing with additional RULing.

And you know what also is possible, constant head on crashes. This game seems to carry more cars, even not simulated traffic, compared to trains. However as an American, I see too many hazardous heavily traveled one lane streets, and it is a nightmare that such a flaw exists. I stopped using these one lane, two way roads, since jurisdictions don't care about traffic safety.

As for Jason's comment on the OWR, all I know is one way pathing is no problem to Tarkus, who made a single lane, one directional network known as the MIS for the RHW network. With that in mind Opkl, while a street oneway network is out of the question, have you seen the chart for future networks in the NWM thread before it was taken down? Imagine something like the MIS, except being a OWR network running through your city. Its just that it will be a long time for that to get made, and would still be based off the road network, but it does not look like a road, since it would be only one lane. People use MIS for other purposes in developed areas, which is an unofficial reason why there is a MIS starter. However, I would not bother using MIS along buildings facing it. MIS don't work for residential zones, but as you know OWR does. Maybe you saw my video that had grown houses facing off the MIS? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOLont3uHys It only works because the MIS starter registers from the game as OWR.

In the meantime since OWR can transition to street, couldn't you use only tips of OWR's to block off traffic from going both directions on the street? Maybe if you want to only have traffic go down the street in one direction, when theres an intersection, make only the intersection OWR, and leave the streets.

Is it possible to make a puzzle-pieced OWR network that has only one traffic lane in the center and parking lanes on either side?

superhands

it is possible. but this would be classed as owr not street.  Owr-1 which is in the nWM line up could be be used in such a way with eye candy t21 parking bays.

carkid1998

Well even if it is an eyecandy network with the same capacity as OWR, it would still be good!

Thinking about this is still too far ahead of development, but this probably should be an optional dat file, because some people probably will use it to simulate just that, while others will use it to be alleyways.

The center lane OWR with parking sounds great! :D

What does the OWR-1 look like? (I'm asking since the NWM had been taken down a while ago...)

And, would those parking bays then have to be arranged on the sidewalks or could they be designed as asphalt parking lanes as well?

They'd most likely be designed as asphalt parking lanes, yes. It depends on how the T21s are done for this network.
