Quote from: Une_ame on January 16, 2010, 09:32:31 AMI'll go with the green el. rail cause it make a real separation between the rail and the buildings without being to fancy or/and expensive for such a low density area.

the other ones are not realistic :
    - the simple crossing is obviously to dangerous, nothing blocks people to enter the railway from the yard,
    - the other one are just too expensive .

You have right, the simple crossing is too dangerous, so no way! I also liked the green El rail because it's safer and brings a nice touch of green.

Quote from: bat on January 16, 2010, 10:51:55 AMAlso great images of these trains, Terring7!

Thanks :)
All the extra freight trains are from Lex and Simcity Central.

Interesting topic Nardo, thanks

Quote from: Andreas on January 16, 2010, 12:38:58 PM@Terring7: You forgot one possibility: FLUPs (street underpasses)! :)

Of course, underpasses! I think that this is better, underpasses and walls that keeps Sims and cars out of the rails ()stsfd() :)

And an another image from me ;D

wwvictory interesting photos here, with my favourite the image with the island in the canals :)

Terring7, FLUPs look better, but are you using a combination of FLUPs and the green elevated rail?

I'm the one who jumped across the Grand Canyon... and lived.

Terring7

Yes but I'm not sure yet when i will use the el rail and when the underpasses. I will make some experiments to find it out ::)

zakuten great image, shows all the rails at ones

Nardo,

Wie Sie, ich liebe die Tiere Dampf, aber leider gibt es die Notwendigkeit für HD alten Autos (Orient-Express wird gut).

Waiting for HD orient express cars, here's a new pic of modern French SNCF ones ;).

Great picture Une_ame  Actually I like this picture much better than the night shot bcos I feel that the light rays (from the lamp) are wrong, suppose to be two for each, not sure if anybody agrees with me. Btw these train are really great, has anybody came across the Eurostar yet...anywhere? Would love to have that in my station. Cheers.

I am hardly building medium or big terminal station however I always liked frogface's SNR medium terminus. So I did some minor additions to it recently in the LE. Neither map nor lot is finished by now:

Not too bad I hope ?!?

Have fun!

QuoteNot too bad I hope ?!?

Very good indeed !

The only stuff I don't like is this yellowish grass around the tracks. Maybe I'm wrong but I've seen nowhere such grass in the middle of a town especially that close too a large terminal station. Should be dirt, concrete or gravels :satisfied:.

You're totally right firdaus, I've actually delete that previous lot and rebuild a new one :-[. The one of the last pic is the new one. Except from the problem of light cones, I also change other minor things and I made it TE from the road (2 entrances one the lot). I'll post night pic later. Meanwhile, here's a day view from the other side.

This is from my current project (recreating the city of Omaha, Nebraske), showing the largest railyeard in the Omaha area (the one in Council Bluffs) and its surroundings:

Pic of the area from Google Earth:

Very nice scenes everybody.

... but where are the trains ?

Let's look at wwvictory's picture. No trains what so ever.

Except in Terrings post most of the trains are props.

puresim

Yes but this isn't 'Show us your... trains' :P

Very nice railyard RBC!
