Hi

Im not sure were to place my question, was not the easiest forum to navigate.

I just started to play CS and have some extra buildings that I have installed, and some that I pasted in the plugin map.
But what I wonder Is how do I build the buildings in the game? For example, I installed the IKEA- buiding but how do I found that buiding when Im
playing so I can build that, or another one was a airfield base?

Hi cazzman,

To answer your question: some building (ploppable buildings) are available in their corresponding menu's (like stations and landmarks). Other buildings (growable buildings) are built automaticly at their corresponding zones. For instance, the IKEA building will grow on commercial zones of any density. I hope that answers your question.

Hi cazzman,

first of all welcome to sc4dev! I think you will get used to this forum quite soon ...

As for your question: basically there are two types of buidlings in SC4 - growable and ploppable.

Growable buildings will only grow on areas that have been zoned corresponding to their type. In the readme of every download you will find the exact information of which type this building is: low, medium or high wealth, commercial office, commercial service, industrial, or residential. So e.g. your IKEA building is a commercial building, thus it will grow by itself on commercial zones once the conditions (basically demand for that type of building) are met. Additionally you need to consider the lot size of that building. SO in order to have a building with the size of e.g. 4 x 5 tiles to grow in your city, you need to zone a area 4x5 tiles wide. By holding the CTRL key during zoning you can create single zones of any size that will allow only buildings of that size to grow (zoning without any keys pressed will result in a lot of smaller zones). These buildings you won't find in any menu. The only way to see them in game is to zone, wait, and hope that they will grow (btw, thats the good side of playing sc4 - discovering that a new building has grown somwhere that you have never seen before!).

Ploppable buidlings can be placed by selecting them from the menue and plopping them on a place of your choice. Most of these buildings you will find in the landmark menu. However, they have different stats as growable buildings. Some do really provide jobs (most industrial and commercial ploppables will do that), some will only be "eyecandy" (which is true for the vast amopunt of residential ploppable buildings, afaik).

However, there is a cheat (you will need the "extra cheat plugin" to activate that) that allows you to plop any building available in SC4 (including the standard maxis ones).
If it's a good idea, go ahead and do it. It's much easier to apologize than it is to get permission.

Those extra cheats by Buggi are available here: Maxis Extra Cheats.dll
Read Maxis' extra cheats.dll now on the LEX for more information. ;)

Don't worry, I just moved your thread to where it should have been. ;)
