Can someone please explain to me how i get my custom/downloaded buildings to have night lighting???? I know i've seen it somewhere on this site but I've looked and looked today and found nothing!  I Have updated my game witht the patch, but can't remember what to do after that! HELP PLEASE!!!!

OK, I found all the updates required.  But when i run the SKU1 update i get this error message

"Patch Warning

Old file not found. However, a file of the same name was found.  No update done since file contents do not match"

Does anyone know what this means, what old file, what contents don't match? but once i click "OK" the update continues and once it is done it says that the update completed successfully.

Then, when i run the SC4Update4BAT, i get the same "old file not found" message, when i click "OK" it goes to desktop.  I'm going to run my game right away to see if maybe it worked anyway.....though i'm not holding my breath &mmm

Do you use any kind of patch like a No-CD or crack? Custom building night lighting requires the game to be running with the CD in.
Current project: Movies 14

You may have meant to search for Houdini. (result of searching for XiahouDun on SC4D)

That would most likley be the reason, I had moved a few months ago and forgot the cd in my old house but had SC already on my comp so i run the game using an .ISO, luckily my mom still lives at the old house so next time i go back i'll get that.  THANKS!!!

is there anyway around that tho, seeing as how i won't be going back to my home town for several months, could i get the update working through the .ISO file i am using???

Ok....so here's the deal, I left my old SC4 CD at my old house in a city miles away, i was playin SC4 through a ISO file because I could not get the CD, After hearing I needed the CD to have nightlighting I went and bought a new SC4 CD, all should be good right?  Wrong, I'm still getting that same "old file not found" message.  But here's what I'm thinking of doing but need your help, the last think I want is to lose all of my progress.  If I were to copy my entire Sim City 4 folder found in "my Documents" and moved it somewhere else, unistalled SC4 and reinstalled using the new CD, then once reinstalled copied over the new Documents folder with my old one, when I run the game would it be exactly as I left it before the uninstall, or would it be all messed up?  PLEASE HELP!!!!

Well, when you are uninstalling SC4 (disk version) it gives you an option of "Save Cities" or "Delete Cities". The cities and region are not on the disk itself, they are documents on your hard-drive.

The link to the nightlighting update is in the readme of many custom BATs that can be downloaded off of the LEX or STEX. (I know SimGoober, for a fact, has the link in his readmes.) Install this update to your computer, not the SC4 files. If this is wrong, someone please correct me, but this is how I did it, and it worked.

Hope this helps.

Everything is good,  I ended up creating a back up anyways of my SC4 documents folder.  When I was prompted to keep my saved cities I clicked "Yes" and the original documents folder went unchanged through the whole ordeal.   I NOW HAVE NIGHTLIGHTS!!!  Although now I am shaking my head at the fact I just spent 20 bucks for lights in SC4, best to not let the girlfriend know about this one  :D

Matty,  It's strange you were having problems with running the game off an ISO file.  I run mine off one with nightlighting.  It sounds like you had another problem.  It's worth trying with the ISO again just to see if that was the issue.  The issue generally only comes up with a cracked exe file.

Well, the game was a torrent, long story... Disk 1(install disk) was lost and the other was scratched etc.  Back then, I didnt want to go out and spend 30 bucks when I already spent 50ish upon release...Also if I remeber right, every so often the SC4 documents folder would be erased and all progress was lost.  I don't know if that was a CPU virus or just something to do with SC4, but after I downloaded the torrent I never had that problem.

The game itself ran fine, aside from occasional CTD, I just got those error messages when trying to update, but everyhting is good now, thank goodness!! :D  I do normally feel bad downloading torrents, especially for a game like SC4, but i suppose that is why they are there, for sitiuations like this one.  I'm sure that if I played the game off of that same ISO file now or one created from my new disk, everything will be OK, now that it is already updated.
