I apologize if this has been asked before, but I was wondering, is it possible to put traffic lights on merge lanes like they have down in the US on their major freeways.  It's so only a few cars can merge onto the freeway at a time.

Thats an ingenious idea. They use them on some motorways (basically the same thing as a freeway) here in New Zealand as well. They have a sign that reads "One Vehicle per Green", but are only used during peak flows.

I guess the way to do it is to make a T21 mod (for the applicable RHW Puzzle Pieces) with some traffic light props on it. I could BAT said props, and I am willing to learn how to make T21s.

I guess it would be better to wait for the new RHW 3.0 to come out, but since I am a NAM Associate, it might be possible for me to be able to gain access to the materials to start work on it ahead of the public release.

"Ramp meters", as they're often called, are fairly common here in Oregon as well in the metro areas.  Wouldn't be too difficult to implement with the RHW, and it's something we've discussed doing on a number of occasions.  For various technical reasons, a special Metered Ramp puzzle piece (eventually, a series of pieces) would be the best way to do it.  I'll "fast track" it on my mental list of future new features.

With these puzzle pieces, would the traffic lights be a visual feature or would they actually have an impact on the traffic flow?

The way I'm thinking of designing them, they will actually cause a slowdown much as real-world metered ramps do.

Very interesting. Would you like me to BAT a sign and traffic light arrangement?

I'll do the USA / Canada version, if you'd like to do a Euro / Australia / NZ version.

OK, which puzzle pieces does it need to work with?

I believe they would go on the RHW-4 < > MIS transition piece.  They could also go on the very edge of the ramp pieces.
