I personally like the look of this new terrain mod better than the Olympic for the region. But, for this to pop up out of nowhere really is strange; did you acidentally download some terrain textures as a dependancy for another mod that is causing this? I know that this is possible.

Battlecat:  I'm trying to fit in the plant, but the terrain around it is kind of hilly. I'll figure it out soon.

Mine Improvments, AIN Expo, and the Simlympics.
After trying to find the solution of the problem and giving up, I resumed my improvment of the mine.

First, I replaced the dirt with CSGdesign's Cleared Earth. Then I used SimGoober's coal mine in the middle.


One of the things I was making was my thread for the AIN Expo. Here's a few pictures.

Downtown Daloa has grown a bit since we last visited.

Finally, several people at the AIN convinced me that I should run for the Simlympics. If I compete and win the bid, we are going on a trip to watch the games! If I don't win, there is another option to take a trip to a new city.

I shall call this city...


There is a nearby city, called Palmona. Together, they make the Strathmore-Palmona Area.

A nice visit from CSGdesign

I'd like to propose a resort complex, just north of the main township, in all that forest area.
I'd like to see this resort create a nice big man-made lagoon joining on to the river... and lots of little bungalows and stuff where couples can get away from it, or go visit the center for a spa or massage or whatever.

Which leads me to my first picture.


You may or may have not noticed the small new lake. That lake is part of the new Overton Pass* Resort.


Around the lagoon, there are 11 cabins that people can rent.


Closer to the actual river, there are 6 more cabins up for rent.


On the island formed by the lagoon, there is a small shopping complex, a marina, and the construction site for the Overton Pass* tower.


Finally, the planned Overton Pass* tower. When complete, it will be the tallest building in Invernessen, until you get to the city of Daloa.

The resort looks great so far! I think your choice of tower is very appropriate for a large resort. A couple of things I might suggest, though:

• Perhaps you could replace the Maxis commercial lots with some of JBSimio's Smalltown USA ploppables (do you have them already?). They would lend a nice atmosphere to the shopping block, the sort that large resorts tend to have.
• I think it wouldn't hurt to add a few more cabins between the groups of existing ones. You were fortunate to have some good houses grow as cabins, though
• I'm not sure that the weather in Illu'a would make this feasible, but a golf course would make this more like a RL major resort.
• If you're looking to change the name, how about Cedar Shores? The name comes from the local geography; besides obviously being on a riverbank, it's surrounded my cedar trees. Your choice, though.

Sweetness! I really like the design of the towers. You should expand the farms above their current position. In the valleys will look cool. And I agree with Wood about the golf course.

Great resort, so far. I like your choice of cabins. As an addition I would also add a small campground with tents.
And the tower, well I personally would not place a high rise hotel there. Maybe Simgoober's Hotel ZaZa (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=15598) would look better there?

I think the farms would look great expanding north and west.

As for the resort, I think maybe one that would be less taller would be better fitting for the surrounding. I agree with the Zaza suggestion, it would look good there

Welcome to Cedar Shores!
I have taken in implemented almost all of your suggestions on ST, SC4D, and CSGf. The resort is renamed Cedar Shores, and the Overton pass tower had been downscaled. Along with that, there are other improvements around the area. Let's let the Cedar Shores marketers tell us what they are.


There are three ways to get to Cedar Shores. The first is driving Route 27 Northbound from Daloa/Route 27 Southbound from Dafter. The Adraman train service stops at Invernessen, where you can take a taxi to Cedar Shores. Finally, during the peak vacation season, there are charter flights from Daloa International Airport, Strathmore-Palmona International Airport, and Henry Edwards International Airport.


Once at the resort, there is a marina and boardwalk, where you can take a stroll, rent a boat, and relax in the peaceful Sparkling River.


Next to the boardwalk is the main resort tower, a Four Star hotel. There are a total of 90 rooms, including 3 luxury suites.


There is always something new at the Cedar Shores town center. You can walk around a open air shopping mall, buying whatever suits you.


All of Cedar Shores is powered by clean solar energy, including the water pump. This allows your stay to be as environmentally friendly as possible.


If the center of Cedar Shores id a bit too urban for you, we have rentable cabins around our artificial lagoon. There is a free boat that allows you to go from the town center to cabins and back.


We hope that you will visit Cedar Shores, for a day, week, or even a couple years!

Great updates as always, sorry for not visiting more!  A golf course would be a fantastic addition to the resort area!  What you've built so far looks great already.  Cyclone1001 has picked out a pretty fantastic location.

Great work! Now the shopping area looks perfect - reminds me of those outdoor malls whose buildings try to look old, but aren't. The waterfront is also superb.

As for the golf course, since it was my idea, it should be no surprise that I'm still in favor of it (and I voted so in the poll). Cyclone's suggested location looks great, although getting there from the main resort area might pose a problem unless the resort has its own private ferry (or a bridge, but that might spoil the scenery).

Im new to this thread (actually, new to the whole forum, before this i have only downloaded stuff), but this looks great!

I think that the golf course would just spoil the beautiful nature, but perhaps it could be built if it would be small. But the resort looks very nice

The final addition to Cedar Shores will appear next update. For now...

I have built two tracks for the AINGP bid. The first takes use of the existing roadway south of Invernessen. This winding road+railroad is the first thing I have ever built in U-Build-It.




The second is the Palmona Racetrack, in the city i am building for the Simlympics.


Finally, some of the planners of Cedar Shores were at lunch, and drew up a plan for the Cedar Shores Country Club. Growing tension between the country club and Invernessen residents mean that the company is attempting to build this golf course in secret.


Actual story: I was at McDonald's, and I had a pen.
