Hey all.  I'm using Windows 7 Home x64 and I'm constantly crashing.  It's random, I could be just running time and crash, scrolling through one of the menus and crash, plopping several lots in succession and crash.  Anyone have any ideas on how I can go about ending this?

Indisguise

just wondering, you install any mods of late ? could be a conflict with an existing one.

Another common thing is  ,  whats the size of your plugins folder vs your system specs ?  too many plugins can over tax your sysytem and cause crashes smetimes.

Have you edited or change any civic buildings that were already existing in your city ? this has been known to cause CTD problems.

If so:

Quote from: amapper link=topic=2737.msg90845#msg90845 date=November 14, 2007, 08:34:40 PMI had the same problem, usually when zooming in or out. This is what has made it possible to play the game crash-free.

If you are running a dual core processor:

1. When the game first starts, bring up the Windows Task Manager (ctr/alt/del-ONCE!).
2. Click on the Processes tab and select the simcity line.
3. Right click and choose "Set Priority"; click High.
4. Right click again and choose "Set Affinity"; uncheck CPU 1.
5. Close the Task Manager.

This should help. Good luck.

You can also just change the target in your SC4 desktop icon so that the game starts via the command prompt and then you don't have to keep alt-tabbing out of the game and changing the priority and affinity every time you play the game. My desktop target looks like this, so you'll just have to adapt it to whatever directory you use, whether you want the intro and what screen res etc:

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\cmd.exe /C START "SimCity 4 Deluxe" /high /affinity 1 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\SimCity 4.exe" -intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1200x32
