Can you extract a gmax model from .sc4 model file?

Is it possible to extract a model that can be used in Gmax from a .sc4 model file?  I would like to re-skin/re-texture a cargo ship(and some other bats), but  do not have the Gmax model and cannot/do not know how to import it from what I have.

If it is not possible, does anyone know where I can find a Gmax model of a cargo ship.

Thanks.

No, you can't import a BAT-exported model to gmax.

You can only import models with "full geometry", with only 1 zoom/rotation view (like automata), however this isn't really useful to anything, even re-skinning, as such models can be re-skinned simply by changing the (FSH) texture (no 3D modelling or exporting is required). I don't know if SC4 contains ship models with 1 Z/R though.

What you can do is..., locate some ships models (props) you liked, and ask the creator to re-skin them, or send you the model (gmax file) to re-skin them yourself (and of course don't forget to thank and credit him).

It depends, if the sc4 model is an automata or not. If it is you can export as 3ds with the tool ilive_reader if it's not a an automata you can just export the "LODs"

In your case, I don't know if the cargo is an automata, try and you will see   ;)

You can't extract a model from a sc4model file. You will need to find a dat file with a cargo ship, an automata. These are true 3d model.

A sc4model is a more or less just a box with a skin on:
