Greetings everyone,

I'm new here (although I've the game for many years). Recently I've come up with a plan to make a fictional province in a fictional state (Province West-Simland in the Country of Simland, off course). The province itself will be a recreation of the Netherlands and a small bit of Flanders, but the urban plan en the city's will be more Belgian.
However, For this plan i also need a stormsurge barrier for my huge delta region. I already have the wonderfull Japanese river addon set by mas71, but unfortunately, i don't think they're good enough for my more greater stormsurges. Does anyone knows another set that i can use?

Oh, this is my project for the moment. You can see that i still have allot to do :D. Tips or hints are most welcome...

Thanks in advance...

Brechtje

If i'm right, your region is  'zeeland' and a part of Flanders?

looks nice!  ;D

I hope someone can answer your question!

brechtje

No, My map is a massive 40 x 40 pixels in paint. So what you see now is indeed the most south west region of Zeeland and Zeeuws - Vlaanderen (and a bit of Flanders), but it's not even 1/4 of the total map.

before I can answer the question I Googled 'storm surge barrier' and ... wow ... very impressive. I don't know of any bats ... maybe someone else does?

Yes I know. that's why the Dutch ones are in the new 7 wonders of the world.

Just to be clear. It doesn't have to be an exact replica of it. Just a Storm surge barrier or something that looks like it is good enough.

The only thing that I know of is Jeroni's seawall breakwater . . . that in combination with some other dock, seawall, or industrial pieces might do the trick.

Good Luck.

He has indeed a wonderfull tut about making dikes and i will use it, but sadly it's useless to make stormbarriers. After 2 days of searching i've come across this site with the possible link, but i never found the download link if this set. I've also tried some translators but they only made it more complicated. Perhaps there is someone here that can help me?

EDIT: While waiting and hoping for a solution i've continued on my project. Now, the river Scheldt is ready all the way to Antwerp. Please do not hesitate to say what you think about it.

Here is a real map of the region for comparison

I've been thinking about doing something along the lines of what you are talking about, but have not come up with a plan, that I like, yet.

I'll be always in your debt for it :D

nice to see that somebody is making zeeland :)
zeeland is imo the nicest province of the Netherlands.

anyways is really an interesting idea to remake the delta werken
ive got a project my self now but if im skilled enough maybe i will give it a try someday!
or try asking really talented batters over here if they wanna give it a try ;)

Mmmm.... I think I have something you might need.

Only, it isn't finished yet. Started it sometime ago out of fun but never finished it.

It is made out of three parts (starterpiece, supportpiece and repeat) so I could theoretically make a bridge out of it if I ever decide to finish the model. If somebody can explain to me how to make a bridge with overhanging parts (the barrier and part of the supports are overhanging)

I don't have a lot of time right now but i will see.

I can't help you with the dikes (apart from what's been said already). Are you planning to make a realistic recreation of the locations of cities, size, etc.? I'd say it's a bit to small compared to the real thing. I'd also try to use lage city tiles (blue-coded in the config.bmp flie) as much as possible as this will make it much easier to draw bridges later on.

Mas71's tetrapods are another alternative, but they're not the same structure as you are looking for:
