Welcome to the Republic of the United Constituencies of Okaloosa Ocklawaha

This island nation is located just south of the Florida Panhandle and is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico. It is a fairly large island with 72 large city tiles. The island starts at the shore with very flat land. Mountains and hills are found as you head farther inland. The mountains form a ring around a large lake in the middle of the island giving it a doughnut appearance. A region shot will be coming up in the next update.

UPDATE 1 - The Beginning of Aguacaleyquen Constituency

Aguacaleyquen Constituency is made up of 12 cities.

  • Port St. Joseph
  • Creighton Beach
  • Cavalier Harbor
  • San Blas City
  • The Groves*
  • Port St. John the Baptist
  • Zephyr Point
  • New Fort Walton Beach
  • Lafourche Island
  • Killingsworth Crossroads
  • Wewahitchka
  • Quincy Village
*This is the Constituency seat

Here is a basic city map:

As you see in this picture, the trees have been cut down to show where the InterConstituency Highways (I-C Hwys.) will be built.

Here is a very basic highway map:

Some pictures of development
Overall:

Port St. Joseph:

The Groves and the northern part of San Blas City:

In the next update you can expect the following:

  • A region shot
  • Better maps (Can anyone recommend a good way of doing this?)
  • More development pictures as this constituency grows larger
29/3/10: images removed pending reformatting/resizing. Refer my PM. Images can still be viewed thru links.  Tooheys – moderator

29/3/10: Images restored at a smaller size and .jpg format.

EDIT: Direction to new region added.
Check out my MD - United Okaloosa Constituencies -Updated 6/13/2010 - Roadgeekery + Map!

The weather forecast for today is a morning blizzard, followed by extreme heat with a lot of rain. Tonight, you can expect excruciating cold and wind. Have fun :D

I like how you planned the highways so far. The one thing I would recommend doing is trying to build using less grids as you grow out the city.

emgmod: Thanks for the advice. I tried to incorporate that into this update, but as you'll see, it worked, but it needed expansion.  :)

RickD: Thanks. I really like the I-C Highway, too.  :P

Battlecat Thanks!  :)

UPDATE 2: Further Development of Aguacaleyquen Constituency

The population has increased nearly 3.5 times since the last update, but total zoning and development has not increased. Here is an updated overall picture:

The total population is around 75,000 people. Skyscrapers are starting to appear in some places, especially in The Groves and in San Blas City. Port St. Joseph has seen some growth, especially thanks to one company. Zephyr Point and Quincy Village have also seen a little bit of development. Here is some info and pictures for those cities.

The Groves
The Groves, the constituency seat, is rapidly growing into a high-wealth metropolitan area. Skyscrapers are starting to fill into the area.

San Blas City
San Blas City has recently expanded all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. It has filled in very nicely, and is rapidly catching up to The Groves development-wise.

Port St. Joseph
Now, let's not forget about the small town of Port St. Joseph, which just recently got a present from a cruise ship company. This company decided they would like to build a port in this small, but growing town. Some expansion has occurred, but more is anticipated.

Zephyr Point and Quincy Village
Not much to say about these cities that are just now seeing some development. I just thought it'd be important to say that some development has occurred, and some more can be anticipated in a later update.
There's no picture available for Zephyr Point or Quincy Village.

I promised a road map, and I'm going to give you one. I'm not completely satisfied with this.  &mmm I made it in MS Paint. If anyone can recommend a better way of making a road map, I'm all ears. Some city limits lines have been adjusted. The empty part north of Quincy Village is part of Quincy Village.

Unfortunately, I was not able to get a region shot as I am still trying to finish up the northern portion of the region. Hopefully it will be finished by either Update 3 or 4.

Next Update

  • More development in Port St. John, Zephyr Point, and possibly Creighton Beach
  • Region map?
  • Some roadgeekery?
  • Better road map if anyone can recommend a better way of making a map

RickD

You are developing a really nice skyline there. There is a bit too much repetion in buildings if I may add some criticism.  :P

I'm a fan of maps in MDs. Yours is a good start. I haven't done much better myself. But I am currently learning how to use Inkscape. It is a free vector graphics program and should be more suitable for making maps than paint.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to your next update.

RickD: No problem with the criticism. I did notice some repitition, and hopefully in one of my Update 3's there will be less. Thanks for telling me about Inkscape. I just downloaded it today. :)

SPECIAL UPDATE! Update 3-A: Roadgeekery Begins
Okay, so Update 3 will be in three, possibly four, mini-updates. In this update, I'm going to show the beginning of my roadgeekery. The pictures that I will post will be fairly simple (again, made in MS Paint), but I like how they turned out. Tell me what you think.

    • City limits lines are not straight
    • Street names are somewhat difficult to read
    • Some roads are missing
    • Highway markers are missing

These improvements will be made in the next map and here's what else you can expect in the final update of the Update 3 Series

    ROADGEEKERY
Some road signs that I would like to put into my city.
I do have a question: Does anyone know who would be willing to make these into actual signs (whether on SC4D or ST)? Answers would be much appreicated. :)

    DEVELOPMENT IN TALUACHAPKOAPOPKA CONSTITUENCY
Campcroft Estates is the only city that has been established in Taluachapkoapopka Constituency. The weather picture above is the only picture I have, unfortunately  &mmm

Except for one. This is the Interchange at I-C Hwy. 4 and I-C Hwy. 5 North and I-C Hwy. 704 South

    CREIGHTON BEACH HWY WIDENING
Way beyond capacity in this case. This road construction was very tricky. The road was closed off to all traffic. Some people needed to move out of the area to accomodate for the widening road.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN UPDATE 4

Welcome to the United Okaloosa Constituencies
Update #1 - A Welcome to the Region

Currently, I don't have a region shot, but to give you a little bit of information about the area, the region in real life is Pensacola. It is 8x7 large city tiles which provides plenty of areas to build and test new ideas out. There are three classes of highways in my region:

    • InterConstituency Highways (abbrev. I-C Hwy.)
    • United Okaloosa Constituency Highways (abbrev. UOC Hwy.; as you'll see in pictures, I mixed up the letters)*
    • Constituency Routes (abbreviated according to Constituency Name)*

*These routes are co-signed with Florida State Routes.

The city of Pensacola has decided to become a little region within a state. Though separate from state and county affairs, Pensacola is still considered part of Florida. Thus the reason of the co-signing of highways. The Florida State Route numbers that I use are former numbers, numbers used in Pensacola, and numbers that have never been used at all.

The first constituency we will be working in is Ntlakyapamuk Constituency. (Don't ask for pronunciation because I have no idea  ;D)

Currently in the region, there are about 6,500 residents. Within the constituencies, there are usually about 10 cities, but those won't be mentioned until we get a map in the next update. Now to the pictures.

1.1 Overview of the Sprawling City

1.2 The Intersection of I-C Hwy. 904 and UOC (misspelled in pic) 139/Florida State Road (FL SR) 1

    1.3 I-C Hwy. 904 Exit 1 - UOC 23/FL SR A19A

    1.4 I-C Hwy. 904 Exit 2 - NTLA (Ntlakyapamuk) Route ABX/FL SR 399

    1.5 I-C Hwy. 904 Exit 3 - UOC 429/FL SR 727 & UOC 391/FL SR 173

    1.6 I-C Hwy. 904 Exit 4; I-C Hwy. 1 Exit 1; I-C Hwy. 4 Exit 1 - I-C Hwy. 4 @ I-C Hwy. 1 @ I-C Hwy. 904

Now for a couple of traffic lights that I would like to showcase:

    1.7 The Intersection of UOC 139 (Not correct in Picture)/FL SR 1 & I-C Hwy. 904

1.8 The same intersection facing a different direction.

And that is it for this update!

What to expect in the next update

    • A region shot
    • More traffic lights
    • A map
    • Weather
    • Roadgeekery
    • More pictures

    Update #2 - Roadgeekery Ensues

Hold on to your seats, this is a lengthy update!

Before we get to the roadgeekery and traffic, we will take a look around Ntlakyapamuk Constituency (still, don't ask for the pronunciation; I still have absolutely no idea how to say it). The population of the constituency has now reached 97,500 residents. The constituency has slowed down on its growing outward and focused more on growing upward for a while.

    2.1 A region view

2.2 A view of the Ntlakyapmauk Commons, Convention Center, and The Cantonment Country Club

2.3 The west side of Osceola Heights, including a view of the University of Okaloosa at Osceola Heights.

2.4 The east side of Osceola Heights

2.5 East side of Cantonment which shows Etheridge Stadium.

2.6 Northern side of Cantonment. (The city dumps are behind the trees because many business were complaining about the ugly sight.)

    2.7 West side of Cantonment

    2.8 Southern side of Cantonment

And now, we move onto the traffic/roadgeekery aspect of the update

2.9 First, we travel eastward on Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca Blvd.

2.10 Here's the signal at the intersection of Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca Blvd. and Pánfilo de Narváez Pkwy.

2.11 Next we travel south on Pánfilo de Narváez Pkwy.

2.12 Here's the next signal at the intersection of Pánfilo de Narváez Pkwy. and Mooshagian Rd.

2.13 We continue straight on Páfilo de Narváez Pkwy.

2.14 - 2.15 We approach the next signal at the intersection of Pánfilo de Narváez Pkwy. and UOC Hwy. 429/FL SR 727

2.16 - 2.17 We turn left onto UOC Hwy. 429/FL SR 727 and approach the signal to get onto I-C Hwy. 904 West

2.18 We turn right to get onto I-C Hwy. 904 West

2.19 We now approach Exit 2 on I-C Hwy. 904 West

2.20 - 2.21 and approach the signal at Boulevard of the Champions

2.22 - 2.23 We turn left onto Boulevard of the Champions and approach the signal at Van Hoene Dr.

2.24 - 2.25 We turn right onto Van Hoene Dr., make a U-turn, and approach the same intersection

2.26 - 2.27 We turn left onto Boulevard of the Champions and approach the signal to get onto I-C Hwy. 904 West

2.28 - 2.29 We turn right to get back onto I-C Hwy. 904 West

2.30 We approach Exit 1 on I-C Hwy. 904 West

2.31 - 2.32 We take the exit and approach the signal at Seventh Street

2.33 - 2.34 We turn right onto Seventh Street and make a U-turn and approach the same intersection

2.35 We turn left and once again get onto I-C Hwy. 904 West

2.36 We end our road trip at the end of I-C Hwy. 904 when it intersects with First Street

And now, I think I've kept RickD and possibly others waiting long enough... it is time for the MAP!!!

And that is all for this MASSIVE update! Don't know exactly what will be in the next update, but it'll be a surprise for me and everyone else. :)

P.S. I also apologize if the traffic signal pictures are cut off on the right side. I don't know quite what is wrong they're, but I assure you that the size of those pictures are 1024x768
