So as a small teaser before my next update, here is a shot of central Cedar throughout the years! Hope you enjoy :) (I know, I know, double post - I figured two different subjects, two different posts!)

I like your building style. I guess it is called Natural Growth, these days. ;) I tried it with several cities but always failed because I got too impatient.  :P

The State of Nesara: Update Twenty-Five

Cedar International Airport

Welcome to Cedar International Airport! Officially opened and ready for operation, CIA finally makes it easier for travellers to Cedar to get in and out of the city quickly, instead of having to travel for hours to the nearest airport. The Nesara Council have invested heavily in the airport, and the state-of-the-art terminal building has been constructed to be able to handle 3 million passengers a year, or about 8,000 passengers a day.

Currently, the Nesara Department of Transportation has gotten agreements from both Southwest Airlines and American Airlines to start serving the airport, but the bigger news is the recent announcement from the Nesara Council confirming plans to begin operating its own, state run airlines, called Nesara Airlines. Although no other details were released, it is believed that the NDT will also be resposible for managing it.

With the development of the airport has also come the construction of a new, four lane road that currently leads to Country Road, but the NDT has also confirmed further expansion of the newly dubbed Washington Avenue that will have it expanded to near where the Council Building is situated in southern Cedar.

"Cedar is expanding southwards, and as more residents move into the city, the more the city will expand south. In anticipation of that, we have drawn up plans to have Washington Avenue intersect Intersection Street south of the Chamber of Commerce and Council Building, and continuing further east. Washington Avenue will make it easy for people to get to their homes from the Cedar International Airport, and it has been purposely made into a four lane road to be able to handle the expected increased traffic," stated Bassem Safek, director of the NDT.

Bassem Safek is currently one of the most important and influential people in Nesara, directly overseeing projects that have single-handedly boosted the growth of the city. The design of the CIA was his brainchild, and the conception of Washington Avenue was his work. Considered by many James Brooks right hand man, several insiders also see him as the potential replacement for Brooks when the time comes. As for now, Safek continues to spearhead several projects, including plans for a state-run public transportation system, that have enhanced the lives of Nesarans significantly.

A small, quaint, yet wonderful airport here, my friend ! I've never been skilled at crafting airports, to be honest they rather confuse me, however yours really makes me want to try my hand at one again !  :P

The night shots that you showed at the beginning were really wonderful, it sure is an amazing difference that nightlights can make in a city ! The mixed density of the tree groves surrounding the airport is also a very nice and realistic touch you've given to your already marvelous work. I also like the MAVE-4 running in front of the airport, an appropriate highway for a city of Cedar's size.

Wonderful, realistic work here, Nedal ! Hope to see more from you soon !

Ethan :)

Hey Nedal,
A very fitting airport for your size of city.  Some may have gone over board, but not you. ;)

That's a very appropriate airport for Cedar!  And a fair amount of room to expand if demand calls for it in the future!

Mini-Update

In Profile: Nesara Department of Transportation

Headed by Bassem Safik, one of the most influential people in Nesara and considered by many James Brooks most trusted confidant, the Nesara Department of Transportation (NDT) has led the way for the rest of the state in facilitating growth, but on an economic level and demographic level. With completed projects such as the Cedar International Airport and the expansion of Intersection Street, the NDT has helped ease the traffic pressure on the Nesara Council and on the people of Cedar while bringing the city closer to the world.

Initially established as means of the Nesara Council to manage the roads of Cedar, the NDT quickly grew under the leadership of Safik, and has since become the second largest department after the Nesara Chamber of Commerce in terms of employee size. It is the youngest department of the council, and its offices are currently situated inside the Council Building.

It was successfully completed the expansion of the most important road in Cedar, Intersection Street, to help ease traffic to and from the industrial sector in north Cedar to the residential south of the city. Most recently, its largest project was completed, the Cedar International Airport, and it has been deemed a resounding success.

Its current projects include the Washington Avenue, a four lane road which will connect the Cedar International Airport to the expanding residential areas of southern Cedar, and the Ravine River Rail Bridge, which will help connect the rail tracks to the southern state of California. Also in the works is plans for a public transportation system, featuring busses that will serve the greater Cedar area.

Great Airport. Its a nice small one and fits for the size of the city. Also the runway is actualy a realistic size, a thing alot of airport builders do not do. (Including me  :-[ ( And as darraghf said i also enjoy actualy reading your cj too.  :P Im realy enjoying that your going all out for the OSITM.

Here is a small teaser to keep you guys going until I get the update up tonight or this weekend. It is how Cedar currently looks, including the new Queens Hotel (developed by Trinity Properties, bought out by the Nesara Council) and the development of Washington Avenue!

rooker1

Hello Nedal,

I really like the layout.  I like the fact that you have just two main routes through the city...one north/south and the other and east/west with smaller roads off them to mostly residential areas.  And the fact that you have nicely tucked away the industrial section, which is altogether, just to the north of the city which is also brilliantly done.
Very nice to stop by as always my friend.
