The U.S is famous for having roadside stops, for tourists, that could be anything.
Antique streamline aluminum diners.
The worlds largest wicker basket,paper clip,rocking chair,rubber band ball,etc.
Native American village.
A dinosaur,or gigantic northern pike(fish).
Sherman tank,howitzers,vintage aircraft.
Roving carnivals.
Old steam locomotives,or a caboose.
War memorials,and battlefields.
Antique car museums.
Retired warships such as the U.S.S. Constitution, battleships, submarines, and aircraft carriers that are now museums.
Old west ghost towns.
Alligator parks.
Presidential grave/monuments(pick a president)Here in Canton Ohio we have The McKinley Memorial.
The Pro Football hall of fame, also in Canton.
Goodyear Blimp hangar,Akron Ohio,very impressive.
Old cruise liners that are now hotels.
Reconstructed wooden or earthen forts.
U.S.S Arizona memorial.
In Europe there are countless castles/ruins,and other ancient structures.( I would love to see someday)
The list could go on,and on. Real,or imaginary, these places lend a bit of style to where we live, and build simcities.
I hope these ideas can be of some use to you master builders out there.
            Thanks,as always.

Browse the LEX, STEX and other exchanges, esp. in the "Landmark" department. You should find quite a few things of what you mentioned.
