Great work. The details are nice but it's just a little to clean. Try adding some dirt to the walls

Red Star Production is now on FACEBOOK

Pozzessed

I'll take a look at dirtying the walls a little  :)

First attempt at night lighting. It wasn't difficult, the challenging part was getting it to look like *I* wanted it to. A valuable lesson I learned was to make sure that 'cast shadows' was checked .. when I first lit the shop and previewed it the whole thing was lit up like Blackpool at Christmas! That box should be checked by default :shocked2:

I inadvertantly uploaded them as .png, if anyone has a problem with that I can convert them easily enough  :)

WOW! Great job on the night lighting.  I like how you can see right into the homes and store.  May I suggest lighting up that blue sign?

SuperTimo

Quality stuff :) Nice to see some more British bats being churned out, espically with small comercials like the chippy.

Keep up the good work :)

Pozzessed

@Matt .. It took a lot of fiddling between the opacity of the alphas and the intensity of the lights to get the look I wanted and to keep the daytime shots looking right. I'm going to light the sign once I've beaten gmax into letting me put a glow on the inside .. hehehe .. the sign is for the national lottery.

@Aaron .. Londis is a small supermarket chain here, you can get most things in there .. we have one in our village.

@SuperTimo .. Thank you. I saw a need for more of the small stuff, houses and shops, which makes up most of our cities away from the capital. I intend to model some pubs as well, even though most of them are being turned into something else nowadays .. I don't do skyscrapers, they're too impersonal to me.

Finally finished lighting the chippy tonight ...

Me likey very much! I'm very excited to see these released and placed near gascooker's pubs and homes.

mattb325

And you've been batting for how long?  $%Grinno$%  :D

This is such a great little building! I really love the interior detailing and the night lighting really makes these details pop!  I see you've got the roofing issue sorted, but if you need any help, happy to assist with tricks that I use

SuperTimo

Just out of curiosity what part of Bristol are these houses modeled on? they remind me alot of the homes in St Andrews and Montpellier :)

kwakelaar

Really some very sharp looking models, great work on the interiors and night lights.

Pozzessed

cubby420 .. I'd like to do a few more houses, then I'll lot them and look into the uploading procedure on here. I'm not sure about uploading to the stex yet.

Matt .. It must be almost a month now, it's more fun than I anticipated  ;D Help, hmm .. how do I get these buildings out of gmax and into 3dsmax 2010, doesn't matter to me if it's just the stripped model, all my textures are backed up.

SuperTimo .. These are partly my imagination but the area I started looking at was around Robertson Rd but as you seem to know Bristol, there are streets of them dotted everywhere although the main front decor varies a little.      ;) Thanks to you I had to redo the decoration shapes on the front (I *know* you're going to go looking for them .. LoL), something I'd put off attempting as I wasn't sure if, at my level of ability, I could do them .. persistance paid off and they're now the correct shape.

kwakelaar .. Thank you. Some of those interiors are modelled. When I needed a sofa to show up I modelled it, it would probably work just as well putting a picture on the floor and it's doubtful that anyone would notice the difference but me, but *I* have to know it's correct. That's why the night lighting takes me so long, it has to fit in with the way I imagine and I have a very strong imagination  :)

Now, to relieve you of your hard earned money .. McNeils Turf Accountants .. betting shop .. bookies, whatever *you* call them  :)

Nice to hear you might be making this a running set. With the detail you introduced here, expectations will be high  ::)

Pozzessed

Because these are more or less a specific style *I* think they'd look a little silly just growing the odd one amongst other styles and that's why I'm making them in a set.
This next one, Osborne House, changes things a little but is still reflecting the real ones  :)

Looking very good!  &apls

Maybe it's just me, but something isn't quite right with the nightlighting on the back porch though.

Pozzessed

:) My fault for trying to save some space .. there's a high level window in both back extensions, maybe I ought to change the window though ?

Those houses are truly beautiful! They make me somewhat regret not having any British-like neighbourhood planned in my region.

Very beautiful. Can you please explain how you created those realistic looking windows? For example. are the drapes part of the window textures or are they 3d models? If part of the textures, did you use a falloff map in the reflection channel?
Thank you.
