Simcity won't launch

Can someone help me? SimCity 4 won't launch and this is the same computer I have been playing SC4 for 2 years now, and the game won't launch. It has all the requirements for gameplay, but somehow it won't work! Someone help me!

Not to be funny but did you check the disc for damage and is this a cracked version of SC4?

 I cleaned the discs before I installed SC4, and they worked just fine. Simcity even ran after the installation, but SimCity 4.exe won't launch anymore. No, it's not a cracked version, I bought it for $15. The disks aren't damaged in any way.

Does anything happen? Do you see the splash box that normally appears before the game starts? Are you clicking a shortcut, if so have you tried clicking the actual .exe in your Program Files directory?

No, the splash box does not appear, nothing happens when I press on the shortcut or .exe, not even a dialog window. I have tried everything you said before I started this. The discs are fine, not a cracked version, a clean hard drive, PC meets requirements...
Nothing will work!

Be sure your sound card is properly installed and working.. oddly enough, SC4 REQUIRES a functioning sound card..

How about your video 'format'.. if it is an odd one and you are trying to open full-screen it will "bomb" if it doesn't fit properly.. try appending a -w and if necessary a custom resolution statement on your shortcut. SC4 natively supports a very limited set of WxH formats

Did it install properly and without anything "funny" happening? You mentioned it installed without event. Is it a RUSHHOUR or DELUXE version or a vanilla SC4? Have you applied all the EA /Maxis patches (what version is the .exe? right-click, "properties", "version" tab).  Have you tried re-installing it?

From your description, you suggest you have had it running for some time. Are you trying custom maps? Custom terrain mod's? Custom tree controllers?

Are you using hardware or software display mode? Have you tried to launch it without any custom content? (generally an empty "plugins" folder)

This happens to me A LOT  (usually after installing a plugin) BUT THERES A few SOLUTIONS TRY THEM IN ORDER
1) try UAC (user account control) because  i know win vista cant run sc4, to do this right click on icon and select Run as Administrator

2) restart computer then try to run the EXE(maybe unnecessary to some BUT IT WORKS)

3) check that your disk is ether in the driver or undamaged (THIS IS WHY I LIKE NO CRACKS)

4) uninstall the plugin(s) (only if after installing one)

5) grab a few empty disks and back up cities then un/reinstall SC4  

6) Check if your computer CAN EVEN RUN SC4  

IF you tryed  EVERYTHING in the list
YOUR SCRUDE    in this case your computer most likely ran out of space on harddrive/ram/UNKNOWN
