EXAMPLE: There is a references to a special building having an "Area of Influence" of say 17 tiles.

The Question: By 17 tiles does it mean a 17 tile radius with the said building being in the center? Like a radio station plopped down then the influence would radiate approx 8 tiles from each side? Or would it be 17 tiles in one direction to the edge of the circle?

Just trying to place for maximum effect but this was not cleary referenced when looking at the building guide translated over at Sim City Force.

Also looking for a good guide preferably in english (Already read the manual 2X) , that discusses in greater detail the inner workings of things actually in the game and their effect rather than proceedural like the manual seems to do. The things you only see in tips from hardcore players every so often.

Thanks,

Not sure where "area of influence" is used... all such ingame properties refer to the radius.
Thus, as far as I can understand, "area of influence" would always be the radius, not the diameter.

I wish there were such a manual... a lot of the information is available in the wealth of tutorials available here on Devotion though.

I use the Prima Guide as I already had it open I took a look, while this is describing the pollution effect it may help with your question

QuoteA building with a pollution rating of 5 and a radius of 5 would affect its surroundings thusly;

Over the entire LOT under the building: 5

1 tile away : 4-4.99
2 tiles away: 3-3.99
3 tiles away: 2-2.99
4 tiles away: 1-1.99
5 tiles away: 0-0.99
6 tiles away: 0

hope that helps

:)

EDIT: Posted at the same time as RippleJet
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?" DEATH thought about it. "CATS," he said eventually, "CATS ARE NICE.

I use the Prima Guide

And Prima's Official Strategy Guide is of course still available. :)
You'd also find paperback copies, both new and used, on Amazon. ;)

The Prima Guide isn't always fully correct, but most of its content is quite useful.
Besides, you can always double-check its accuracy to the tutorials and other posts available here. ;)

i like that we double check the accuracy of the official guide against the fan made one....
NAM + CAM + RAM + SAM, that's how I roll....
