Graphics Driver Quits Working when Playing the game

Hi

Whenever I go into the tax menu, and I try and lower or raise taxes, the game will lockup, and then it returns to the desktop. I then get this message saying the Graphics driver stopped responding, and then it starts looking like this:

SimCity is still running though. I have to reboot to restore the graphics functionality.

Would anyone know what is causing this? I'm on a Windows XP Laptop 2.2 Ghz Intel, 990 MB RAM and then 64 MB Video memory on a Intel Extreme Pro 2 card.

You might want to go to "startup" "run" and type in "dxdiag" and hit return.. it will diagnose possible issues with directx installation.. what directx version does your system have installed? I find that anything later than DX9.0c can be a bit dicey

I did that and it didn't work, but all the sudden it stopped doing it, right after I removed 3 viruses...
