Wow.. travismking's heavy rail through the residential areas must have a high usage! I especially like the first picture!

travismking

thanks, thats my favorite one as well :) This line is actually not that congested, only like 7.000 riders a day, as its all suburban, and not much regional traffic goes this way. It links one of the main CBD's to the eastern suburbs which are all low density. Most of my cities concentrate on rail usage, HSR, heavy rail, subway/EL etc... but this area uses mostly road traffic, hence the highway in the 1st and 3rd shots :)

I'm not sure if is this is realistic, but it's nice :)

No, it's not nice  . It cuts the forest in 2, preventing the animal migration ()sad() . Many animals cannot cross the rails, while some bears destroy the fence and then killed by the trains :(
So i built underground rails

And yes, they are functional ;D

I think he refers to ChrisAdam's trails, which are available on the LEX ;)

@Terring7: Well, instead of moving the whole railway under the earth it would be enough to built small artificial hills every some km. The railway would go through a small tunnel. As an alternative you could dig small holes which the railway crosses on short bridges.
The fences you already built along the RR line in the first pic would lead the animals to those animal bridges and the cost for the railway wouldn't explode.

The same method works for highways, motorways etc.

@ Terring7:D Great method of letting the animals migrate without having to cross the rail line!

Terring7

Thanks for the comments my friends :)
Nardo i knew about those constructions from a documentary and they are brilliant. In Simcity however we can use cheats, mods and money trees to build anything we want, without worrying about money. And if we have enough money to build a whole underground rail system, why not do it? ;)
Of course this idea is only for freight trains. For passenger trains, i prefer to build elevated rails. Do i need to explain why? :D

I'll get this thread going again with a picture, this was the first time ever I used MMP's, and I think it turned out rather well:

RIP Adrian (adroman), you were a great friend

Looking good, Xander! I'd suggest you to put some cattails/rocks/grass on the shore of that lake to hide it's edges. Turning off the grid would also make your pic look better :)

I seriously need to get GLR skins as well as a handful of stations.  :P I just now started using the GLR stuff and am trying to get a hang of it. I am using the GLR stations (part of RTMT) as of now..

Girafe

Nice rail station wetsom  ;)

joshriddle577, good start, check what Vester made concerning Tram skins, they are very impressive and you have lot of choices  ;)

Nice shots all!

@ wetsom - Good job with that central station! Reminds me a lot of the area around the real one in Helsinki!

Now a few from me!

A train leaving the central station:

More track near the central terminus: Most of the undeveloped land in the middle is planned for a large park

The area surrounding another major station:

Couldn't resist throwing in a night shot!

joshriddle577

Where did you get that station in the second pic. ?

Great to see folks getting value from the BSC-enhanced Amsterdam Centraal Station. Hundreds of hours from many folks on the team went into this log, working on the reward component, modding the bus-spawning automata, the bicycle props were a challenge, etc.....
