SC4 CTDing when loading city

today I've reinstalled SC4 and the LEX DVD/CD in order to solve some saving problems the game was encountering.
The installation went well and the game started up as it should. But due to some loose ends I'd forgotten the graphical side of the installation was still whacky.
So I set out to solve that... but somewhere in that process I must have made an error leading to the titular problem:

when I try to load a game the game CTDs on me. And I have no idea as to why that is.

This is what the exception report tells me.
It doesn't seem very useful but maybe someone can tell me more.
PC-wise should not be a problem since it has always been able to run the game...

Does the game crash before you get to the region view, or does it crash when loading a city?

If it is when you are loading a city it is most likely a plugin, and my guess is you have a Terrain Mod but no textures.

Cut/paste all of your plugins to a folder outside of SC4 and try again.  No crash and you are good, and it must be some plugin, or various conflicting plugins.

The fact that you have played SC4 on the computer means it's probably not hardware (unless you have changed things around).  There are many possibilities of problems if it is your computer, but the first thing that needs to be done is empty the plugins.  It will make startup time faster anyway for when you are testing things out.
