Hi Dobdriver,

I haven't had time to play SC4 for weeks, but every time you release a map I dream of the cities I could build on them.  your recent creations are so enticing.  The only option is to make time for SC4!

Ask and you shall see some Austvågøy photos.

The first shot is from the first city established in the region, called Daniel's Ridge. Its population is approximately 40,000 last time I checked, and is named Daniel's Ridge because of a large ridge squeezing the majority of the community along the coastline. As for "Daniel", a person's name makes a city sound important.

It has quite a high population density; but, with a ridge limiting your development, the only direction one can build is up.

The next two shots are from the largest city, New Cyphern. Its population is around 160,000. As the landscape had a lot of potential for development, I named it after the first metropolis I ever made in Simcity 4 and the first metropolis I made without flattening landscape in Simcity 2000. The name "Cyphern" holds a lot of history.

The area around Shallow Harbour is considered downtown due to its numerous commercial highrises. The two large office towers (Citibank Tower and 1 Andis Plaza) relieved demand for CO$$ and CO$$$ a bit, but those Sims had a high demand for offices again shortly after. Simply relentless when it comes to work.
Quite a few LEX and STEX BATs can be seen.

Ferry Cove is also a desirable area.

This shot is a bit outdated, taken back when New Cyphern had 120,000 or so Sims, but that huge office tower (Chelsea Tower) is still there. That thing only employs a few over 1,000 Sims.
...and somehow that ferry port has no ramp to get on the boat when it arrives.
I'll have to give myself a prrrrrrrromotion!

Canberra's not missing out is it? Australia's best designed city IMO, coming from a resident of it's only other designed city (as far as I'm aware), Adelaide.

With a little plopped water cutting through the valley, the Liechtenstein map is a dream to build on. Thanks for this and keep up the great work!

Aldini10

Sorry to tell you that Wine doesn't fix anything, just makes things worse. Oh, well then at least I know when I switch back, there will be a large stash of your maps available for download. Keep up the great work!!

Maestro9319

With over 240,000 inhabitants, New Cyphern has surpassed Old Cyphern's population of 180,000. New Cyphern's Ferry Cove now sports one of nycc06's masterpieces, over on the far right. :satisfied:
I'll have to give myself a prrrrrrrromotion!

G'Day Devotees,

Righto, I'm back and the map-o-matic is warmed up. But wait, first up is some mail.

Maestro, they are some great insights into your regions.  You are the master of city building on not so easy to build on maps.  &apls

Aldini, thats not good to hear. Nonny moose at Simtrop uses linux and wine, perhaps a pm to him may shed some answers for you?

Mmm Magee_b, that certainly brings Liechtenstein to life. Thanks for sharing it.  :)

Things I think he needs to get his prostate checked. No Canberra is not forgotten, I just have to get off my lazy backside and finish her.

Eldado, Thanks. That is the only option you have!

Ctrl+Z, Thanks it was my pleasure. I have some more Spanish cities cooking.

Biriali, Thankyou. I will see what I can do for Rotterdam, quite a bit is below sealevel so we just might have to be a bit sneaky with it.

Une_ame, Thanks for your vote of confidence  ;), time will tell. I have a request for a skyscraper but have not started it yet. I do like timed stuff and smaller buildings. they give the city more life and most cities are not just made up of scrapers.

WC_EEND, Thanks and you're welcome. Good to hear I never missed too much, you enjoy your home town now. :D

Kelis, Thank you. I have Chongqing almost complete.  Couple of days and it should be ready.

I was away longer than I anticipated but never the less I am back now. so on with todays show.

First a couple of requests from Drflex at Simtrop, Thanks mate.

San Marino is 10.24km x 12.288km

San Marino is the smallest and oldest sovereign state in the world.

Andorra is 36.86km x 28.672km

Andorra is surrounded by Spain and France in the Pyrenees Mountains.

And finally a request from Une_ame, Thanks for your request.

Marrakech is 61.44km x 69.632km

Marrakech is situated on quite a high plain at the foot of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.

These are availaible on Stex's or Lex's near you.

That's it for today, tootle pip.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Cheers

Hi dobdriver,
Thanks for all these wonderful maps.

Inspired by magee_b I decided to show you my modified version of the Liechtenstein map. I wanted to have some game water for a general port:

It is a really super map to build on  &apls
My name is Thomas...

marciomaco

hello
I'm new here, but I've already seen your maps. They are wonderful  &apls

If I can ask for a map, could you do Porto, Portugal? I think it would be a great challenge  ;)

And, just a question, I just need SC4 Terraformer to put the maps? And how I save the maps on the game?

dobdriver

G'Day Devotees,

Another couple of maps are done and dusted.

Turtle, Thanks. Those are some excellent water additions you've incorporated in the map, thanks for sharing them.

Welcome Marciomaco, Thankyou. Sure thing, I can make a map of Porto for you I'll add it to my list. To download Terraformer or Mapper you will have to register separately for the lex. There are links to both along with instructions in the readme I include with my maps.

And so for todays show.

The first is courtesy of a request from Kelis, Thanks mate.

Chongqing is 49.152km x 57.344km.

Chongqing, home to over 30 million souls. That's oodles.

The next is the second from the simtrop list.

Quesnel is 61.44km x 61.44km.

Situated at the confluence of the Fraser and Quesnel Rivers, British Columbia

The next up is another Spanish map courtesy of Ctrl+Z, Thanks mate.

Valencia is 49.152km x 49.152km.

Valencia was originally built by the Romans in 137BC. Hmm quite old.

Last for today was courtesy of Delija21, Thanks mate.

Eastern Croatia is 28.672km x 36.864km

This is another large scale map and represents 100km by 128.6km. It is scaled at a ratio of 3.49 plus a few extra decimal places.

Well another show has come to an end.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Very nice maps. These recent ones seem very nicer.  ;D

P.S.:Do you think you can hook me up with the terrain mod you used on Marrakech? ( ::) It looks very interesting.
(Or tell me which one you used. It looks different that is why I'm asking.  :P)

G'Day Devotees,

Well this weather we've been having has certainly tried to douse the smoke from the map-o-matic, we've had about 760mm or around 30 inches in just over the last 4 days. I can swim to me dunny almost.

Marsh, thanks mate, but unfortunately I can't furnish you with the mod as it is a substatially hacked version of Cycledogg's Italia with ultra high snow. I have replaced a lot of the textures in it but they are quite coarse and unsuitable for close-up work in city tiles.

Thanks Kelis and you're welcome, I can also pop a map of Frankfurt in the old girl.

Thanks Orange, I should have rendered it in your Pyrenean mod or my hacked version of it  ;).

Oops almost forgot, there's a show on and it's right here.

And first cab off the rank today is another requested by Ctrl+Z, thanks mate.

Sevilla is 57.344km x 69.632km.

Seville is over 2000 years old.

The next couple are some I've done in my spare time.  ;)

Messina is 73.728km x 73.728km.

Be careful under Mt Etna!!

Gonghe is 40.96km x 45.056km.

Gonghe, high on the northeast Tibetan Plateau at 2850m. I've lowered this map 2584m to bring the dam into play as game water. I have the full height version (over 4500m) if any are interested in subjecting their hardy sims to a little high altitude living, I could be persuaded to release it also.

Well that's another over for today
Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Cheers
dobs.

Tangoboy

wow...it's very impressive those maps...I liked Ganghe...

if gets, you could make thoose areas: County Galway and County Mayo...if not...make the main: County Galway...

thanks and continues with your incredible work,

Tangoboy.

Greetings Dobdriver,
Can you make a map of Lyon, France? I've tried and failed...miserably, lol.

Thanks!!

Hello DrunkDobAppleDriver  ???
I would like to present you with two requests: the first would be the port-city of Kaohsiung on Taiwan, with a 45ish degree angle rotation in order to allow the development of that magnificent seaport of theirs. The second would be the tiny Mediterranean archipelago of Malta, again rotated so that I could build the airport and the Malta Freeport orthogonally. I am guessing 51 degrees would do the trick, but I suck at geometry. $%Grinno$%
Since I am a newbie on your thread and I wouldn't want to eat up too muchof your time, I'll let you choose the one you prefer!
Thanks in advance.
Fabien
