G'Day Devotees,

I've been cleaning up the hdd of late, (file system, more like a cupboard with a box in the bottom) and now I've seemed to to misplaced my requests note. I shall have to have a good rummage around the that box again, sure hope there ain't holes in it.
Ahh some mail.

Hmm, GMT let me guess &idea, also I think it is an areal thing. The limit is about 9600km2. I am going to test that theory with the Galway and Mayo maps that are in prodution.

Thanks Portlandexpos, the pot's on, the toaster is warmed up and Shanghai is simmering beautifully.

Thanks Guillaume, How are the Luxembourg maps coming along?

It's showtime, and after rummaging around in that box I found these.

Tariel asked if I could render some of mine and others maps (has a mac), well mine are already rendered so that's easy fixed and as I have a server it's no problem to upload them. One map she asked for I checked out was quite compressed so I chose to make one instead, Thanks Tariel.

Saguenay is 49.152km x 49.152km.

On the Saguenay River a couple of miles north of Quebec City

Next out was requested By Etorsen at Simtrop, Thanks mate

Yuba City is 61.44km x 53.248km.

The Sutter Buttes and Yuba city.

The last I could find was a request from Art128. Thanks mate.

Vladivostok is 49.152km x 49.152km.

Vladivostok, home to the Russian Pacific Fleet.

Well it seems the show is over once more.

Till next time, Thanks for looking and have a great day.

areal matter... hm interesting. I have an idea I'll test in 5...
EDIT: no I think it's more a matter of feed size. at least not in terms of scrolling the map. tested with an 8*152pixels config map. would be an 608km² areal, still not entirely scrollable.

speaking of 5, @art128: nice deadmau5 banner  &apls

... really, it is. I swear.

G'Day Devotees,

Well that's a bit interesting, It looks like all the old links on the stex are gorked, I've started to update and have five fixed, only 130 to go. Mmmmm yummy fun.

Thanks Art, you're welcome mate.

GMT, that's true for SC4, but mapper and terraformer are different animals. I'll test it in a couple of weeks as I have that crap ^^^ to sort out first.

Oh look the shows in town.

First map up for display is courtesy of a request from Mattc286 at Simtrop, Thanks mate.

Milton Keynes is 28.672km x 40.96km

This map required some nasty things doing to it and then I had to hack 20km from the east and 12km from the south

Next up is a request courtesy of Portlandexpos04 here at SC4D, thanks also mate.

Shanghai is 61.44km x 73.728km.

Although flatter than the proverbial dog on the road, Shanghai has an extensive canal system and with the help of Magic the Television I have managed to capture most of it.

Ok, back to map updating...

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

excellent maps

for the mountain lovers, Can you get a decent Map of the Area of jenkins,Ky?  if you dont like the area, you could always get nearby elkhorn city,KY ;D

both of these places are special to me my grandma is from Jenkins and was raised in Elkhorn! the area itself is pretty mountainy, it should suit the needs of anyone who likes alto-building  ()stsfd()

Both maps look great, like always!

Now on to the selfish part: I'm looking to do a recreation of the Golden Horseshoe around Toronto, Canada, but none of the maps are big enough for what I want to do. I'm looking for a map that covers from Oshawa to Hamilton to St Catharines or Welland. I have a pretty good computer that I think could handle that, and I would be willing to create the map myself, but with the ST Omnibus down, I can't find any good tutorials to make a SC4 map from satellite data.

Edit: I've figured out a lot of it, and now I'm realizing it's just as much a software issue as it is a hardware issue. I should be able to figure it out myself though.

thingfishs

I've never seen a SC4 map with such extensive canal work, nice work mate : &hlp (←()what())

SlimShady

Your maps are great works of art! Blade2k5 and yourself are by far the best map makers our community have. Thank you both for your hard work. ;D  &apls

I would like to make a request for a map of my hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The bigger the area the better.  ;) If you could do this it would make day. :)

Like Rionescu I have the same problem and would be willing to this myself but just need to pointed in the right direction.  :)

Thank you once again for all your hard work!

That Shanghai map looks terrific! I shall wish to play it soon as I sort how not to get Eternal Commuter loops from using Water traffic.

a  map of south east kent in the UK having ashford in the top right rye in the bottom left covering the 40km east to the white cliffs of dover
and as far south as to include the dungeness penninsula...

would be about 16 large tiles wide by 10-12 tiles tall.
NAM + CAM + RAM + SAM, that's how I roll....

G'Day Devotees,

First up my apologies for the tardiness of maps of late. They are all mostly in some state of dis-repair but will see the light of day shortly.

Next some mail.

Thanks Rstarks, I have looked and can get both Jenkins and Elkhorn City onto one map. And it's cooking at the minute. Cheers.

Rionescu, thankyou and you're in luck. I just happen to have a spare map kicking around in the bottom of the map box of the Golden Horseshoe. There are some caveats to this map though and the biggest is you will need a 64bit version of windows to load it.

Thanks Things old mate. it did take a bit to get all those canals. Just who is that fella on fire there --> &hlp

Thanks Slimshady, I have a map of Winnipeg running in the map-o-matic and should be ready soon.

The sneaky buggers, Thanks Unassigned.

Mightygoose I will make you a map of the area but I am an old fashioned sort of bloke and a few manners wouldn't go astray, Thanks.

And now on to today's show.

First along is Rionescu's request of the Golden Horseshoe.

Toronto is 98.304km x 98.304km

Yes, this map is 24 tiles by 24 tiles and as such can only be loaded with mapper and a 64bit version of windows. It was made with Canadian dem which does not go across the the border that is why there is no American side at Niagara Falls.

Next along is a request from RageDownRodeo at Simtrop, Thanks mate.

Phoenix is 90.112km x 73.7284km

By the time I get to Phoenix, she'll be rising...
The rendered image is the courtesy of Swordmaster, Thanks mate.

Hmmm, that's it for now.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Cheers

Oh dear, a recreation of Phoenix is tempting, but...

-1. No good subdivision-style homes and no way to create good-looking planned area developments.
-2. Major freeway interchanges that can't be replicated properly. (And a need for a cosmetic mod to create the right colors on overpasses.)
-3. Buildings would need to be BATted, especially schools, Mission/Spanish Colonial fire stations, and downtown.
-4. No AVE-6 or TLA-7 yet. (that's a MAJOR obstacle)
-5. Schools would need to have far larger coverage radii – esp. high schools. http://www.mychandlerschools.org/199310611131032470/lib/199310611131032470/_files/CUSD_HS_Color.pdf – each square is one square mile apiece (I love grids...and that's just what Phoenix has). Hamilton HS (red area), the state's second-largest high school, covers 28 square miles of land, something rather impossible in SC4.

Who said this map has to be used as a Phoenix recreation..?

Thanks so much for the Golden Horseshoe map!  &hlp

Edit1: I am having some issues importing it into the game however. I got SC4Mapper to start, but when I try to create the region, it stops responding after about 5-10 seconds, consistently after getting up to 1gb of ram, although there is still plenty of unused ram left over. I am running Windows 7 x64 with 8gb of ram, so I wouldn't think that's the problem.

Edit2: Interestingly, I can get the Pheonix map to work just fine, so it seems to be specific to the Golden Horseshoe region. If it helps at all, here's the error log message:
QuoteTraceback (most recent call last):

  File "SC4MapApp.pyo", line 446, in CreateRgnFromSC4M

File "D:\SC4\Code\SC4Mapper\rgnReader.py", line 64, in ComputeOneRGB
MemoryError: can't allocate memory for array

Any help would be greatly appreciated and sorry for being such a pain.

uhm... you should extend the phoenix map further down the valley (to the east that is). from the looks of it, it cuts right down from west end of fountain hills thru mesa and gilbert, somewhere around stapley drive and gilbert drive. now already covering such a great area of the metropolitan phoenix, it's almost a shame it doesn't cover the area including apache junction to... lets say gold canyon, while you got all other boundaries pretty much right (sun lakes/santan, white tank mtns, deem hills)
but then again, this would add another 17 miles to the east-west dimension...

... really, it is. I swear.

Keep in mind he said the rendered view is old and that it does go further east. If I put together my map properly, the region does go 10 miles east of Stapley and Gilbert, although it still cuts out Apache Junction beyond Signal Brute Rd.

G'Day Devotees,

I again apologise for late maps, I had to go down south unexpectedly but I will be home for a couple of weeks so most should be finished off before I return to work. Thanks for your patience.  :)

Onwards to the mail I say.

Oh dear, well that's bad luck for you then Tracker. Thanks and welcome.

Too right Art, None of these maps need to be used for recreations. Anything at all can be built on them. Thanks mate.

Ahh Mightygoose apology accepted and I do believe there is something in the show today, thanks mate.

Thanks Rionescu, you're welcome. One thing we know now, 8 gigs of ram is not enough to import this map. Hmm maybe 12 then.

Yeah GMT it makes it east to the edge of Apache Junction, I shall re-render it when I have a spare hour and a half and swap pics as it is really quite a bit bigger than what is showing now. Thanks mate.

It's Showtime!

First cab off the rank today is courtesy of a request from Mightygoose. Thanks mate.

Folkstone is 49.152km x 36.864km.

Like to build a nuclear plant? Right here'd be fine.

Next request is courtesy of Rstarks, Thanks for your request.

Elkhorn City including Jenkins is 45.056km x 40.96km.

It's not the teeth of the world but he reckons he knew who was.

The following map was requested by Jayster. Thanks mate.

Ferndale is 8.192km x 8.192km

A small map but it is quite busy.

Lucky last for today was requested by Prod178, Thanks mate.

Cuzco is 69.632km x 73.728km.

Now these are toothier, something to keep one's mountain goat sims very happy.

And so endeth another show.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.
