Hi,
Im having a problem getting the Regional Tracking Mod to work.

To isolate the problem and see if there was a conflicting plugin I cleared my plugin folder and only installed the tracker, bsc essentials, cam, and nam.  I opened the game through the apps file using "run as administrator".

A search didnt reveal popfile.dat or the other one bscfields.dat?

Im running Vista and a recently downloaded copy from EA's website.

Thanks!

Is there possibly a better forum to ask this question?

Hello,

I had exactly the same problem with Windows 7 and finally found those files in "VirtualStore". I could fix it by installing everything as an administrator, that way the files end up where they are supposed to be.

davetripd1

Yeah I had seen your post, my virtualstore directory doesnt have either file.  I followed the advice from here (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/windowssecurity/thread/e85a62b7-d7c6-4d77-8b4c-11d5892b7218) and changed compatibility mode for both the RTM installer and SC4 to windowsxp, I installed RTM as admin and run SC4 as admin... Still no popfile.dat anywhere.

Frustrating problem, wonder if it has to do with DLing the game from EA instead of having a disk? The file path for the SC4 apps folder is C/Program Files/Electronic Arts/Sim City 4.  If I remember correctly the original path was Program Files/Maxis...  Think this matters?

When you start the game and open a city, do you get the pop up window asking you if would like to proceed or get the stats ect...?
These files are only created when you open a city once and start tracking.

Good to know, I thought they were created by the installer.  Unfortunately no, I dont get the pop-up.

mido1960

Did you create a desktop shortcut to start the game? The RTM only works with the shortcut created by the game installer. You can drag the original shortcut from your Maxis folder in the start-up menu to the desktop. Then it should work.
