Bridge building crashes the game.

I have a new computer, one that's a lot better than the one it replaced, and I was surprised that I actually installed SC4 with the discs I have *because I couldn't do that* on my last computer. I started to load up certain plugins and started playing. So smooth for the first time. Then, when I build my first bridge, the game crashes. I DLed the sku 1 patch, and it happened again. Took out all my plugins, still happened. Changed the affinity to just one CPU, still happened.

and I believe I have the most recent drivers for all the hardware. I have Windows 7, though I've tried running the game in XP mode and the others. Still no luck. It would be awesome if someone could help me out here. Also, I hope this is the right place to post this.

I'm going to be re-installing the game, and if that fails, *I'll try something else* to see if my CDs are messed up.

Have you tried building a basic Maxis bridge without any sort of additional plugins?
