Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions.

I have widened each platform by about 1m; and increased the length of the platform by another tile (16m). This is as long as it can get - after that the overhanging prop becomes 'outside the LE boundaries' on a 1x3 lot and I would have to increase the lot size which I'd prefer not to do.

Did some tweaking of the LODs so that automata can be seen traveling straight through:

Also, just to show other types of retaining walls - most of these usually have a name overhang piece so that you can cover the little grass patch next to the train station wall:

And, a night shot:

Capacity of this station is 30,000....

Liking the new project as it is a departure from the norm to add to rail station selection... not much to add as its good, its a neat look, then, is the ends in the stone any-slope compatible? and now it'll look better with a British steam engine running under...

Hey Matt

I like the roof of the main buildings. And the pale green over the stairs is perfect. I'm now curious who's city journal this building will appear in first   :D

good improvement, I think the platform is now long enough for sc4 trains.  ;)

If we go to really small details and if you are not bored to work on this, I think the lights could be a little bit more brighter in the center of the station cf. green areas. The red squares are strange light I think they could be removed.

Anyway amazing job and thanks for worked again on the platforms  :)

OMG!!!
I love it and will find a use for it right away.

If it is not too much to ask for a second version of this that would be a 1x5, with a tunnel for trains to pass right by the station instead of going through the platform, I think that would be amazing.
As for the station above, I think it's perfect.

Oh my god, I can't wait til this comes out! I will find this very useful. Also could you release some of these buildings you showed? I need them for more job opportunities in my suburbs, your separate business offices were great as well as separate mall growables, so I'd like it if you'd release these after what you are planning to release, because I really like them:

The station is really wonderful.
I find that alcohol, taken in sufficient quantities, can bring about all the effects of drunkenness.

that is one nice station

Thanks for the comments guys - I will make one more re-render of the station....I dropped it into some of the dark night scenarios as part of the testing, and Giraffe was right about light, so I will be changing that part. I also noticed another small glitch which I will take care of in the re-render.

In the meantime, yesterday was VERY wet and miserable here in Sydney, so I fired up the BAT. Below is an example of one of the many old bathers pavillions (this particular building is just something from my imagination) that exist on many of our popular beaches.

When these bathers pavillions were in proper operation at the end of the Victorian Era, there were tea rooms on the ground floor, changing rooms (it took quite a degree of effort to remove countless layers of clothing and then put on full length bathing costumes) and, life-guard storage areas so on.
The water immediately behind the pavillion was either turned into a large sea-pool (rocks and concrete walls) or netted off, and a pier usually dissected the middle. Many of these pavillions were built from the about 1900-1920. After that, attitudes to bathing attire were completely relaxed, so these pavillions became redundant.

The remaining structures were turned into surf life-saving clubs, kiosks, cafes, toilets and other ammenities. Quite often they become high-end restaurants.

Anyway...here is my take.

I've kept the lot pretty generic to fit in with the many different boardwalk sets. It uses the marrast pier as a dependency. This has no water constraint within the lot, so it can also be plopped over ploppable water/canal water.  You can also use seawalls along the edge of the board walk, which will further tie this in with whatever set you are using.

Looks great, Matt! I'll use it for sure.

It's a really interesting idea Matt :) and a well done (maybe parabol is too big according to the size of the door)

Good to see that the station is going ahead, I waited for it  ::)

ps: I will come back to you later for our small lotting project, thanks :)

Oh god that is amazing. I will find that very useful in my coast city. I love your old mansions with the large lots, but where is the grey chateau looking mansion you showed on like the 5th page. You should make some more old mansions with nice lots, but I love what you are doing. The dock looks so classic and amazing.

Jack_wilds

I like the Bathers Pavilion and its nod to yesteryear sensibilities...

the building with it simple details -the bldg date, make it come alive beyond the simple, plain municipal money saving designs and then the simple hut at pier end with its green roof and neat roof line...

Thanks for the comments everyone! :)

I have uploaded 'Newsome Mill' from a few pages back. Get it here: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2700

@Mulu2065: I had forgotten about the Killymoon mansion back at the beginning. I'll see if I've still got the file (thanks for reminding me, I had completely forgotten).

Regarding the satellite dish on the bathers pavillion, it's one of those awful SKY satellite dishes that pubs/clubs/restaurants have in the Southern Hemisphere to pick up what you guys in the Northern Hemisphere watch, so they are quite big and intrusive. I'll see how it grows on me in game  &Thk/(

So I redid the train stations' light. This is it in a dark night setting:

It looks much better than the previous one which had too much glare. I also made a change to the building to avoid the Mac-slider bug, so it wasn't too problematic to re-render.
