hello

I changed operating system from vista to win 7 and now i have to reinstall gmax and BAT tool

I remember vaguely that I have to set the proper environment for gmax to work, an information that I found 3 years ago when I first started with buildings modelling; unfortunately I have not been smart enough to save it somewhere for future reference

Needless to say, I got no clue what I'm talking about (environment? what that could be? for sure not a polluted forest, I guess...) but I remember there was a very helpful tutorial somewhere, that now I can't find anymore

maybe someone can help me with that?

many thanks

I think the word instead of environment is supposed to be settings. When you run Gmax for the first time, it asks you what graphics your system uses, I remember Gmax on its own auto detected Open Gl or something, and it just kept on flashing off in my Vista, where as BAT allowed me to select Direct X graphics during install or something, and that ran proper.

Basically though, the people that released Gmax back then, no longer support it. When you do install the program, make sure to detail what it asks you here.

thanks for answering  :)

it's not about settings that I'm lost, it was something different, I had to add a variable somewhere

it is something similar to adding a "-W" to the property panel to launch Sim City in windowed mode

Hmm, I reinstalled windows 7 at the beginning of the year, but I don't remember having to do anything special to get everything going - I just installed it and away I went.

There is some very helpful information regarding the BAT over at the Simtropolis Omnibus (http://www.simtropolis.com/omnibus), maybe the information you read before is there.
