Hi everybody, I'm new to the forum and still fairly new to the game. I bought it sometime back and was having some trouble and just recently came back to it.  I don't think I have the Deluxe edition, the cover just says "SimCity 4"... I picked it up for $10 about a year or so ago.  It came with no manual so I've had to try and figure all this out myself  &mmm

On the back cover it states "Get started quickly with four fun tutorials plus you can now adjust the game's difficulty settings..."  I have only found the "Mayor" and "Terraform" tutorials. Anybody know where the others are? I haven't found anything to change the difficulty settings still either  ???

Thanks in advance!

A quick check is to have a look at the install location and see what it called the folder when it was installing, on my computer its;

C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\...

If its Deluxe then the tutorials are in the Timbuktu region and you have;

City - Big City Tutorial.sc4
City - Getting Started Tutorial.sc4
City - Making Money Tutorial.sc4
City - Rush Hour Tutorial.sc4
City - Terraforming Tutorial.sc4

If its not Deluxe, then it may be the Rush-Hour version or the SimCity 4 version nether of which I can help you with, except to point you to the updates for these versions on this page  http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?page=6  accept the licence which will take you to the downloads page.

As to difficulty settings when you save a new city name you should have a choice of "Easy", "Medium" or "Hard", each setting will effect your new city in a variety of ways, the most obvious being money, an "Easy" city will start off with $500,000 in the bank, a "Hard" city with only $100,000.

hope that helps   :)

Thank you for the reply. Apparently it is just the plain old SimCity 4 version like I thought :( I had read about some of the Rush Hour features sometime back and couldn't find them in my game anywhere so I had suspected it was the old version. Perhaps I can find the expansion or the Deluxe version for cheap someday :)

I did download and install a patch last night, or at least tried to. After spending 1hr downloading it (is on dialup *cries*) I ran the patch and checked the log only to find out that it didn't actually patch the program and the version I bought was the latest version already LoL

I forget the default region it starts out in, but mine just lists the "Mayor Tutorial" and "Terraform Tutorial".  I'll look again today, but I when I start a new city all it shows it the confirmation to enter the area, the data for that city (it's blank if there's nothing there yet), the $100k it says you start with, and a button to delete the city.   The back of the case states I should have 4 tutorials and the ability to adjust difficulty settings -_-

I tried to get in touch with tech support before hunting for some fan sites to ask about it but I get errors each time I tried to submit my support request to EA Games :(

Hi atryeu

It sounds like you have a rush-hour or deluxe case, but a SimCity 4 CD only (deluxe and rush-hour have two install disks), as to reporting it to EA Games that's going to be a bit difficult as they appear to have closed down their SimCity links and websites, they have started up a Facebook page

http://www.facebook.com/SimCity

Not sure how much help you can get from them now, but we are here if you need questions answered, as to getting a cheap version of Rush-Hour or Deluxe try here

Amazon  http://www.amazon.com/SimCity-4-Deluxe-Pc/dp/B0000C0YW2/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1324372799&sr=1-1

A bit of advice before buying if that's what you decide to do, check what version they are selling and by that I mean is it left-hand (vehicles drive on the left) or right-hand (vehicles drive on the right) version, as they made two versions of the game so they could more easily sell to different countries and its a bit disconcerting if your traffic goes a different way than you are expecting based on real-life experience.

Hi Catty,

Thanks for the reply. The cover doesn't say anything about Rush Hour or Deluxe. There are 2 install discs with it.  I was looking on Amazon the other night and I seen the exact version I have on there. I don't have the link but it's the one sold by Cosmi. I got it at a Wal-Mart around a year or so ago for $10. I have both cds installed.

I may buy someday but for now I don't have an income and money is hard to come by :(  I did see the plain Rush Hour expansion (rather than buying the Deluxe and getting part of the game I already own) but the only copies I was finding were $40+ :( Deluxe I found for $15 and wishlisted for now.

Thanks.
