I have downloaded the RT seaplane base (RT_cds.seaplane base) along with the sw77_airports terminal support and the sw77 seaport support.  However, after placing the seaplane base and saving the city, I cannot reopen the city I placed the base in.  Each attempt to open this city will boot me out of the game and to my desktop.  I tested this file on a city that was unbuilt also.  After saving the unbuilt city with the base placed, the same thing happened and it booted me to the desktop on my attempt to reopen that city.  I have replaced these corrupted cities files so the game is playable again and removed the seaplane base and the support files from my plugins, but unfortunately the replacement cities are totally baren and unterraformed.  I have to start all over on the city that took me weeks to build.  I have saved the built city with the base placed in it, outside the simcity folder in the hopes I can somehow preserve this file.  I hope there is a way to fix this issue before I start all over again on this particilar city.  Please oh great and wise ones:  Guide this poor lost soul ;)  Can I get this seaplane base to work?  What is causing the conflict do you think?  Is there a way to open the corrupted city so I can delete the base?  I tried to open the city with the seaplane files and support files in the plugins and out of the plugins folder.  The city simply will not allow me to open it.  Thank you for your kind assistance.

My friend, I don't know if that's ever happened to you before- if not, welcome to a club composed of folks with similar sad experiences.  As best I know, it's like the persistent unwanted lot bug that sometimes afflicts a city (only a really great city, though, that you've sweated bullets over forever and to which you just applied those last perfect details).  I'm afraid your city's toast.  I started, as a result of things like this, backing up my entire regions subfolder every week or so.  It just takes a minute or two, and I erase the oldest backups as I go along.  That way, the worst it will ever be is losing a weeks worth of work, and on average only three or four days.

Sorry- I hope someone else has the answer and I've just never heard it.

Good luck!

The same thing happened to me, however it was in a test region. The last lot I added before saving out was the seaplane base, so I think that was the culprit. I do highly suggest that all lots and mods be tested in a "sandbox" region prior to introducing them to an established city that you work long hours on. My condolences.

Thanks folks.  This is indeed sad news.  But I will be backing up the cities in the future before indroducing new lots.  I also like the suggestion of testing the new lots in a sandbox.  I'm gonna miss that city.  It was the Folsom district of District of San Fransisco.  I had a great eye candy and functional industrial area I fear will never be as perfect as the one I lost.  I wanna cry. lol  But again...thanks.

P.S.  Does anyone know where I can find a small land grabing airport that will accomodate 100,000 people?  I know I'll never use the seaplane base again.

Indeed - backing up your cities is the best advice you'll get about this game. It is protection from a great many problems...

By the way, the seaplane base can work. I have Swamper's file in a folder marked "ZZZZ_ZSwamper Support Files" to make sure it loads last and I have no problem using the seaplane base or SimGoober's heliport. I know people have had a lot of problems with additional airports and seaports but if you really want it, you can experiment to find a way to make it work.

As for other compact airports, the SWAP 2.3 (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=14024) has an "airport tram" which functions as an airport with a capacity of 100,000. If I'm not mistaken, however, it also requires Swamper's file...

The airport suttle system is contained in SWAP V2  http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=14024. It is compact and the premise is passengers are shuttled to the nearest airport. It shows as an airport in game (region view) and does require Swampers Support file. Hope this helps.

As snorrelli said, the seaplane base and SG's now unavailable Heliport CAN work if you have the files listed plus the SWAP airport. Airports and seaports are delicate items in SC4 and it is vital to have Swamper 77's support file - and to keep it up to date if new air/sea ports are released.

Thanks again for all the advise.  I experiemented with the seaplane base.  Unfortunatley every thing I tried I had the same problem it booted me back to the desktop.  I also tried the tram.  It too does the same thing.  It's boots me to the desktop.  After experimenting, it seems that it is not the lots themselves, but rather the support file that is booting me out.  I have taken the support file out of the plugins and deleted all added airports from my plugins folder.  I haven't booted out of the game since.  I am thinking maybe something is confilcting with the support file.  Like a competeing mod.  I have the seaport support file by swamper and it works fine.  But I also have some street and road mods (no grass, props on streets, diagonal bus stops, and pedestrian catwalks) and things like that.  Could one of these road and street mods be conflicting with the airport & terminal suppost file by swamper?  Any reported cases of conflicts of this nature?

I have good news.  I just put the sea plane base into the rebuilt city, and it now works.  Thank you for all the advise.  Seems the old swap file was the trouble maker.  The SWAP 2.3 version and the swamper 77 support files has fixed the problem.  Thank you again.

uhh... if the issue is fixed as I got from that last post you can get the original back now....

Worth a shot.
