Hello all,

I've noticed some plugins say "stage 3" or "stage 4" etc.
Question is how do I know what stage my city is at?

Is there a plugin for this?

Also how do I know I've reached a certain cap? ie there's a plug in to change the cap for the opera house. But how do I know what my cap is for the city?

Thanx a lot !

First of all, a city isn't at any particular stage at all. Instead it will contain a number of lots from different stages at any given moment. Higher stage lots demand larger cities to grow and thus be least present (e.g. 50% stage 1, 30% stage 2, 15 % stage 3, 5 % stage 4). Unfortunately there's no quick way to see which stage a particular lot is other than remembering it's name & stage and query lots ingame to see which is which.

To see the CAP status and additional infomation about the city, you can use the Census Repository or the Chamber of Commerce. Alternatively you can use Equinox's RCI Query Mod, which I myself like better (little less info but no need to plop an additional building). Hope this helpes.  :)

It is feasible to make a script that itearates through all buildings and searches for certain Occupant Groups. CAMe-lots utilise this feature to display occurences of stage>8 buildings in the CAM's query dialog, but they have the growth stage encoded as an Occupant Group ID. This is not possible for Maxis or other non-CAM buildings/lots though, ie stages 1-8 (and I guess you are most probably interested in these ones), not only because they do NOT use special Occupant Group markers, but also because the same building (family) may be (and usially is) used in more than one lots, and these lots can be of different growth stages; typically the same buildings can be used in smaller but higher-stage lots, eg you can have stage-3 3x3, stage-4 2x3 and stage-5 2x2.

If one could make a script that iterates through a city's lots, and be capable of accessing the lot's growth stage, a query displaying the city's growth stages would be possible to implement as well.

Everyone ^_^ has already done a great job of answering the question. I'll only add that I have the habit of passing everything I download through the XTool before putting it in my game. I recently grabbed a building by JasonCW at the STEX. A right click using the XTool, presto, a stage 10. Another click adds an LTEXT so the building now queires "Name of Building, Stage 10, by JasonCW" ... or something like that. I don't do that with everything. My primary interest is to have a quick visual for the taller buildings.
