Thanks for the comments!

The new HSR line at Tilburg is under construction. Today we take a look at the construction side.

And now we take a look at the current situation at the motorway A10, this motorway will be rebuild soon. The whole A10 at Tilburg will be build whit the new motorway standards. There will be 4x2 lanes, whit space reservation to 2+3x3+2. The parallel lanes of the A10 have now ground floor intersections, all this intersection will be replaced whit separated floor intersections.

Not only the A10 will be upgrade, also the A7 and the N14 will be upgrade. The A7 will be widened to 2x3 lanes. The N14 intersection whit the A7 will be rebuild.

Comments are always welcome!

Today was a big day for Tilburg. The official opening of the mega motorway enlargement project A10 at Tilburg. Before the reconstruction had the A10 floor crossings, and only 2 lanes for local traffic and 2 for transit traffic. The new A10 has 4x2 lanes and all the intersection have separated floors. The transit traffic goes in to a tunnel at Tilburg South and comes above at the motorway A7 at Tilburg North. Freight traffic is not allowed in this tunnel and there are no intersections therefore it is safe to allow 130 km/h in this tunnel. So the new tunnel is ideal for transit traffic. The local lanes are build above the transit tunnel, and have at least 2 lanes. The locale lanes are build whit space reservation to 2x3 lanes (as the 2x3 tunnels are available). Besides all motorway's s also much happened on rail line field. The new HSR link to Germany is completed and have a new terminal at the central station of Tilburg.

We start this update at the A10 at Tilburg South.

Construction method
Here starts the tunnel for transit traffic.

The construction of the project was a disaster for the traffic. The lanes on the A10 to the city where closed for 2 years. This traffic must follow a diversion on the N14 and N269 or the N14 and the N15 or the A12, A28 and the N15 or the A4 and the A7. In this years is the tunnel build at a traditional way. This method was chosen to save costs. But it has a lot of inconvenience caused to the environment at Tilburg.

After the complementation of the tunnel are the local lanes closed for traffic for 1 year. The local traffic must follow a diversion, the transit traffic can use the tunnels now (also the freight traffic in this temporary situation). The construction of the new A10 above the tunnel was easy for the construction company. Also here are significant cost savings whit the traffic closing for a long time.

Without this full closures there would be many more phases in the construction with all more risks and costs. Rijkswaterstaat and Tilburg are pleased that this project is realized within budget and planning. This massive operation was necessary to give Tilburg accessible.

Back to the railway intersection at Tilburg South, this intersection is also expanded whit 2 more rail lines.

The first intersection at the new A10, whit the N15 inner ring road of Tilburg.

The new HSR line to Germany.

The last intersection on the A10 before the junction whit the A7.

Junction whit the A7. The A7 is also widened tot 2x3 lanes, whit space reservation to 2x4 lanes.

The new terminal of the HSR. The junction whit the A7-A10 is build under the ground.

Today we look at the widening A7. This motorway had 2x2 lanes before the widening to 2x3 lanes. The A7 start at the end of the A10, the A10 have we see two updates before.

The A7 is build 10 years ago include whit space reservation at the section at Tilburg. The bridge over the river had no space reservation, we have one lane add at this bridge by remove the emergency lanes. But this see we in the next update. Now we look at the junction whit the A10, this junction is full underground under the new HSR terminal.

The A7 is build in a half-tunnel whit space reservation to 2x4 lanes.

It is a very wet summer here in the Netherlands  &mmm. I have make a lot SC4 hours, so i can show you today the whole widening of the A7 to 2x3 lanes between Tilburg and Delfland. And some big improvement at the Tilburg ringroad - West (the N14).

We start this update at the intersection whit the N14, the A7 is widening to 2x3 lanes. This pictures of the N14 are the before situation.

Now we look at the after situation. The intersection whit the A7 is upgraded and have more capacity now.

The intersection is removed, because this was a real bottleneck for the traffic on the N14.

Also here is the intersection whit stoplight removed, a separated floor intersection is made. There a lot of industries are removed, but the can move to the new industrial area at the west of the N14.

This part of the N14 between two intersections is widening to 2x3 lanes.

Back to the A7.

The A7 climbs here from the half-sunken part.

On the bridges are the emergency lanes removed, and all lanes are very small. We wish that we had build 10 years ago this bridges whit 2x4 lanes, what is needed today.

On this overview you can see the old N7 bridges whit 2x1 lanes.

I love staring at your transit networks. The on and off ramps, interchanges, underpasses are all very well conceived. The rail network is amazing.

Please apologise for not visiting your thread for long time. What I like the most in recent updates are sunken highways and networks on embankments.
Especially this one:

Very difficult place, looks like a junction for three networks. And you fit them all together perfectly (maybe just long traditional rail curves :P). Looks and (guess) works fine!

kbieniu7 is right. The fascinating thing about your MD is how many different transport networks you cram into relatively tight space.

Your railways are insane. In one of the pix you have a circular ramp down into a parking garage. Do you know where you got that?

That's some fantastic work on your transportation system.  Very impressive.

Here is a long standing MD well worth a re-look from the start, with awesome cities and outstanding transportation systems, there's no doubt why this MD was chosen to be in OSITM for a third time!!

Renovation N14 ring road Tilburg - South
Today a small update of a few changes that i have made at the South part of the N14 ring road Tilburg. The road is very congested and there are a lot of crashes. To make the road safer is the way upgraded with electronic sinalering and the entrance and exit lanes are make wider and longer.

We start at the begin of the N14 at the junction whit the N15 and the underlaying network of the city. Before where here no entrance and exit lanes.

Also the tunnel have electronic signals now.

The junction whit the N14 ring road Tilburg - East is reconstruct for the half. This is the before situation.

And this is the after situation, the rest room is moved to the next intersection on the N14 ring road Tilburg - South.

The new rest room area.

You see that the road is very busy, and need a few extra lanes. But there is no money and no politician commitment, because the N14 is a inner ring road around Tilburg. And there is a full A-motorway (big) ring road around the city and the area whit the A4, A7, A12 and the A28.

Thats it is for today, comments are always welcome!
