Looks good Frank, I like how you've lined up the paths with the BAT. Some parking spaces and a fence around the lot would be a good idea indeed.

if you go for the fences then great option too. nevertheless, (just an advice, not a request or something close to that) you could try to see SG's floral patches and planters. He has a nice collection of them. (in SG vol1 if not mistaken)  "$Deal"$

the parking lots may be left outside, as it is a ploplable building, it need no road connection (does it?) so we can plop it after, yes. As for cop props, I can't help you. I rarely use those kind of props (effects). &mmm

Hi friends, thanks for the feedback. While Fred let his videocard being repaired I did some testing, reconsidering, and improving on this lot.
And I added a bonus plaza.

I finally decided to use the nice Caesar Augustus statue by jarnomiedema. For the Courthouse I used the 50% sized version in the download. But as my opinion is: never spoil a good BAT, I decided to add a 3x3 plaza to make use of the full sized model.
In the final upload of this lot I will also add a CO$$$ Landmark. Nice?

So have a look at the improved version and the plaza.

Hi Art, thanks!

And, while I was at it.... The first view on the Dutch Resort Hotel.
Made with a beautiful model by Meurdoos.

You like it? The left entrance is for personnell and deliveries, the left one is for the guests. It shows, I hope.

Thanks for your attention today and goodnight!
Frank

Looks fantastic, but I suggest you to use Girafe's cars instead of CP.

Thanks both of you!
I will not use other cars, because I like my set to look consistent and I started it when Girafes cars nor trees were available. Pity enough...
So I stick to the CP stuff.
But in order to stay consistent with my own reactions to the remarks on parking lots I think it is smart to remove all cars from the lot. Then it is up to you to add separate parking lots with the cars of your own choice.
Then the parking space will be just a beautiful entrance circle. Maybe with some flowers in the center.

You will see a new vesion within some days.

Hi again,

I made three small changes to the lot of the Resort Hotel. Can you find them?

I feel quite happy with it and I'll upload it when I finshed the last tweaks and the ReadMe. And of course when I have a bit of time, which is scarce at the moment. I also finished the Courthouse, but also need a bit of time to put it on the STEX and LEX.

Greetings, and a good new 2014 (does everyone still have all their fingers, eyes and hair?)
Frank

I particularly like how you did the service "courtyard" as a separate area from the guest spaces, very realistic for this sort of building.

gn_leugim

I have to agree with Whatevermind. The lot just looks gorgeous  &apls

FrankU

Thanks Whatevermind and gn_leugim!

I uploaded the Courthouse and the Resort Hotel to LEX and STEX.

Have fun with them.

Frank.

1) removed the planter & rhododendrons in front of the guest entrance
2) added cars to the guest entrance
3) relocated a light post

imaright?!    :D

Looks great!

Hi Erik,

Sorry it took me so long to reply.
No I think you mixed up the images.

1. I removed the cars,
2. I added the planter,
3. I changed the trailer, because the graffiti was a bit too obtrusive.

huh... and indeed
4. I moved a light post and,
5. I added some rhododendrons.

So you were more correct than I was if I read your mistake backwards....

Ok, so now for something completely different.

I still can't get enough of relotting and I paid some attention to the eight Mayors Statues.
While doing so I downloaded W_Swietwoot's Dutch Props Pack, which contains a set of indispensable props for Dutch lots. How did I manage to survive without them? These will gain a status like Porkie's Props have for every lot that is Parisian or otherwise classicist.
I managed to suppress the urge of relotting all my Dutch lots that I have uploaded up to today....
But they will be dependency for almost all new coming lots in my Dutch themes.

I also could resist the temptation of adding underground trash containers, cable switchboxes, displaced bollards, traffic signs or parkingmeters to the fancy lots that you can see in this post.... Because SimCity is more or less my Utopia and hence I have the opportunity to treat the statues like I think they should be treated. Which is quite different to the way many Dutch Public Works officials treat their public space. If you really take a good look around you in our cities, you stumble upon traffic signs, trashcans and all the other stupid stuff on the most unexpected places.....

But Wouter's metal benches, postbox and phonebooth definitely add some Dutch atmosphere to the lots.

Ok, so far for my frustrations...

Here are my versions of the Mayors statues.
In fact not very Dutch, because we have no tradition in putting our leaders onto statues. We even haven't a good bombastic statue of Willem van Oranje, the founder of our country, except for his grave... Which was made by the famous architect and sculptor Hendrick de Keyser in the early 1600s. Anyway, because Maxis decided we have to put ourselves onto a statue, I decided that not only the statue itself, but also the square on which it it standing has to have some pezazz... Take a look at my first try.

Do you like them?

I like them. But I might not be very objective this time. And I do like those kind words... ()stsfd().

But no statues of Willem of Orange is not correct  ;D:

on the Plein in The Hague, and another one in front of the palace on the Noordeinde:

And they are big. But that's enough of me being a smart ass.
Oh, and I missed the trailer... :bomb:

Thanks Carlos!

So I was in the right flow today and I lotted the Central Library Reward. This time it's not a Dutch but a Belgian Replacement lot, but as long as the BeNeLux survives I consider the Belgian and Dutch nations as friendly ones, so that I can take the opportunity to use some Belgian models here and there..
For this one I used the Ghent Booktower model by my BNL team member Alex Bervoets.

The original design was made by the Belgian expressionist architect Henry van de Velde in 1939.

Please comment?

I do admit that the surroundings of my lots are not very elaborate, but I hope you will forgive me.

Excellent work here Frank !! If I can suggest something, maybe you could add some bikes, as you know is pretty common to see some bikes placed near of the office buildings.

Groeten

Bikes, yes. That is a good idea. I have to look for a good set... I am a bit careful, because I don't want to let the list of dependencies grow too much.
