Your texture skills have been improving immensely. Love the color pattern with the brick in the 4-way tram intersection. Of the prior update, that picture with the rail station was excellently framed, and the activity in the picture, with the train, cars, and all, really helped create a dynamic scene.

I really love those retextures!  Especially the tram in avenue; the small tram median bothered me before...

Just been looking over your MD and I'm loving what I'm seeing. Some really fantastic images and their really captivating. No doubt that this is some impressive stuff and I'm really interested in some of the road texturing your up to. Awesome job :D

That first full-size photo is a work of art, and as always, the night shot is a favorite. I love the textures you've been working on, and if you need a beta tester, don't hesitate to ask. Meanwhile, relax and enjoy yourself next week – your legion of fans will be eagerly awaiting your return to Siilijoki.

I'm really liking what I see around the bridge abutment/interchange area. Your use of FARRHW is nice!

Hello again and thank you all for the kind words! You all deserve a personal response which I hope to get to in the next day or two but unfortunately I don't have time this evening. I'm at the point where I feel like I just need to post something or I'll lose momentum here by never quite finding the time to make as nice of an update as I'd like. So here it is, the bare-bones minimum of what I've been up to before I head off to a couple friends' birthday party I promised to join ;)

I haven't been "playing" for the sake of playing in quite some time but I have been continuing work on my texturing projects when I've been able to find the time. It's basically just been refining things making minor adjustments over and over and over before diving in and doing wholesale retexturing. Most recently I decided to play around with the 4-lane-1-tile networks. I've very rarely used them because they seem to look weird next to other networks, even though their traffic lanes are only marginally narrower than that of streets. RL does included narrower roads at times, especially in city centers, and the ones around here look a bit like this:

My first time using HD (256x256) transit textures. I've never felt like they'd be of much benefit previously but I thought it might make a difference with the stone details. I even built my own tram rail textures from scratch only to find out most of the detail is immediately lost and they look almost exactly like my converted RRW tram rails  :D  Here's that:

The last two pictures are a bit out of date and show multiple possible alignments. I've been doing a lot of thinking about the TIA and am still not sure how best to go about it. The main sticking point is station areas and the transition from normal TIA width to station TIA with. Throw in limited turning lane possibilities and the complexity quickly snowballs  &mmm

Thanks for viewing and happy 4th of July to those celebrating the holiday :)

Cool stuff Noah!like the raod texture with stones &aplslooking forward to seeing a new update

You are really branching out into more and more complex areas, Noah. While my company was here last weekend, I gave them a little tour of Siilijoki, and I was proud to tell them you're one of my teammates. Too bad some of your talent hasn't rubbed off on me. :'(

The textures are looking really great, and I'm really looking forward to trying them out. And did I ever tell you how much I love your night photos?

wallasey

Noah, the last images really do the city justice. You can just feel the heart and the soul of the place!

Long may it  continue!

art128

Beautiful pictures Noah, I like them and the textures you've created. :)
It would be nice if you add some details to the park, like some benches, lamp posts, trashcans and people. (I need to do the same for my parks as well.)
I'll take a quiet life... A handshake of carbon monoxide.

Thank you everyone for the nice comments  :)  With my wedding and honeymoon behind me I'm looking forward to having a lot more spare time to play and accordingly I've just started a new region. This should be a much different style then I've done in the past based in part on my recent travels to Tanzania.

For terrain etc the plan is for equatorial African climate like in Tanzania with drier savannah areas, turquoise translucent Indian Ocean water, white sand beaches, and likely some drier desert areas. It's WIP but I've made a new terrain mod for it based on Gobias' Sudden Valley and his St Lucia beach and Caribbean water mods with all the main terrain textures yellowed subtly, the water greened, the sea floor darkened/dirtied, and the terrain parameters tweaked for more beach and greater water transparency. I'm hoping to pick up where I left off with my terrain modding in Siilijoki and really get some neat details customized into the new mod.

Transport will be somewhat similar to what I've done in the past but traffic will be LHD and all be using all different cosmetic details (road markings, street lights, stop lights, sidewalks, cars, trams, and trains). My original plan was to have a large crappy city that is developing quickly and gets a bunch of fixes to its problems but I'm not sure if I have the motivation to build a city I don't like and then redo it. I'll be continuing the texture and tram projects I was working on earlier.

For architecture my intent is to use more colonial, middle-eastern, African, and Asian bats then I have in the past and make as big of a break as is reasonably possible with my style in Siilijoki or NORO. I'll be experimenting with slums and futuristic stuff. Old habits die hard though and there are too few great HD buildings so it's not clear how big a change this will turn out to be--wish me luck and send me suggestions  :P

The map is from Mozambique and is coastal with a river estuary for a port, significant though not too large hills, and lots of nice beaches and places for bridges.

The government will be corrupt and authoritarian which ought to be fun as I'll be the government :D  Part of that will entail gigantic palace grounds and lots of military and police. Nature conservation will be a high priority.

I'm hoping to incorporate the Japanese sidewalk mod but would like to use stop lights from Maarten's SRM and LRM. Basically I want everything from the Japanese mod but the stop lights and street lights. Is there a way I can remove that portion of the mod? Or would I have to change it so it referenced the models I want from Maarten instead of the Japanese ones? It almost looks okay with both installed, sometimes using one and sometimes the other, but for some reason I'm getting trouble with the Japanese ones appearing RHD while Maarten's appear LHD (the correct way for this new region).

The pictures are very early but I wanted to show at least something while posting. I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback and ideas :)
