I recently noticed CAM went missing in my NORO plugins and wanted to make sure re-adding it now is done correctly, in line with this fix. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if my Simcity_1.dat file has already been modified that way and I couldn't find information on what the exact size of the modified or unmodified dat should be. Can anyone shed any light on what the file size should be in either state or how otherwise to tell?

The size of the unmodified but patched SimCity_1.dat file is 144589077 bytes in my case, which is the Deluxe Euro version. The MD5 checksum is:

MD5 (SimCity_1.dat) = 3db62ef1f9d5b8611fb2f47c8d5ed863

This doesn't necessarily mean that your file has to be the same, though.

Edit: Another way to tell is to open the file in Reader and check the file header. It includes a date-modified time stamp, in my case 1062109648 0x3f4e81d0 or "29.08.2003 - 00:27:28".

You could also check the demand graph, iirc vanilla goes to 20k, CAM goes to 60k.

Thanks a lot guys! Markus I checked the time stamp and, being from 2009 I guess it's the modified version, although the file size is the same. Would the official Maxis upgrades affect this? Erik, I believe it's 6k vanilla and 24k CAM, but I think it would show the cam figures whether or not this bug was fixed. If I figure out anything different I'll report back here :)

I am not sure about that, but I guess not. Especially as you have the CD version, like I do. Also, the Aspyr version released this year is dated from 2003, too.

To be really sure you could also open the CAM RCI exemplars and compare one of them with the corresponding exemplar file in your SC1.dat file (after all, you might have edited the file otherwise). If they are the same, you have already merged them.

To be really really sure you could send me a copy of your file and I compare them using my DBPF diff algorithm. ;D

Erm yeah, I'm always a bit fuzzy on the numbers. Anyway, if you load an empty sandbox tile without any plugins in /mydocuments and /programfiles the demand graph should be conclusive I reckon, unless I'm misunderstanding the issue here.

Otherwise check the Developer exemplars indeed, if there're 'unknown' properties underneath 'Stage 8 vs. Size' than those are the CAM stages and the file is already patched.
