I've only been on the Shinkansen once from Tokyo to Hiroshima, but it was a fun experience.  :thumbsup:

Doctor Yellow looks good!! Is it going to be a functional train or some kind of automata running through the tracks as the testing train does, just for eyecandy? That could be great, too!!!

Would love to ride the Shinkansen one day. Have tried the TGV from Paris to Bretagne. Some of the lines is real high speed (270-300 km/h), but the last part from Le Mans is "normal rail line".
Have also tried the ICE from Hannover-Frankfurt / Hannover-Frankfurt-Berlin.

Here is one, you can say its sort of a tribute to Arthur:

The color of the lines are taken from the JR E719 train that you can find the VDK Trains Volume 5.

Plan to make the Doctor Yellow into a functional train. Not sure you can track tester.

Well, the CarX was in Volume 5, in Volume 6, they were called 1XCarP (eXtraCarPantograph)

Will need to get some better drawings/blue prints of the train. Those I have found so far, plain sideviews.
Would like to find some section drawings similar to this one:



Now I am going to make textures for two "extra" cars (extra being additional cars).


Next one in the pipeline could be the 800:

That was done with a new feature that was added to max 2015 with extension 1, called OpenSubdiv.

Close copy, but not 100 %. Looking at other models of this train on the net, this one is hard one to get right.
So many curves in and out.


Been working on getting the polycount down. 254 verties / 472 triangles.
The basemodel with the high count in the back.

WOW, from here, in that angle the train looks very nice my friend. I think you have already the real shape.

Maybe there were an unbalance between the number of cars (4x) without pantograph to one with pantograph.

Will try with just 3 to 1 compared to 4 to 1.



Time for some modding of 700 :)
Done textures for one engine and 4 cars (of which one has pantograph).



btw: No one noticed the logo I did ?



EDIT:

Been thinking of a new way to release these. Start uploading the package with mods of the first model (700) in 5-7 texture versions:
Then as I get the different models, I will update the upload.

What do you think about that ?

Some bad news. Need to cut down the length of the cars.

Tested an engine and a car in game. The last car just keept aligned with the grid.
Second version was even worst.

Asked Rivit if there was a max on the length, he is assuming 24 meters.

So back to the drawing boards called max and PhotoShop.

Nice work though, Doctor Yellow looks fantastic. Though the real one doesn't have that many windows. :)

Yes I know that cars of Doctor Yellow don't have that many windows.
Just trying to bring some variety of different colors to the game.
Got any ideas for skins/colors, please let me know!

... and what do you think of the ideas in this earlier post ?

Finally got it to work. Had to cut the length from 25 to 22.5 meters. The game can't handle longer units.
