Exciting and great-looking project  &apls  ...though why are you making them part of the lot rather then street T21 props to replace existing ones or as a separate mod?

vester: Thank you!!!

noahclem: Thank you!! I don't plan to do any mod at the moment. I put the street props on the lots because it's easier to do different street styles this way. That's why I didn't want any prop on the roads.  ::)

Now some progress:

I hope you like it!!

Dantes

Your gardens are now very busy. I wonder what it looks like from a greater distance. Have you ever finished first city districts? I want to finally see a completed city.

romualdillo

As far I know (I can't speak about all Spain), backyards were not considered as gardens if people already had an inner yard at home. They were not meant to be beautiful in most cases, only useful. So they were quite busy and anarchic. Women used to make gardens if there was enough space, but orchards and other service areas were required. I say women, because it was not men's work to care of the house, and I'm trying to reproduce a certain era. Nowadays all these spaces look different, more formal and garden-like, because the way of life has changed a lot since then.(And men work now at home, too, although Spain is still not exemplary in this area)
In this case it depends on the game that the backyards look denser or not, because every family is different.  ;)

Dantes

Thank you for this explanation. I did not know that. Very interesting indeed. Architecture shows how people live. ôo' The inneryards look great.

noahclem

Wow, those yards look amazing! Really a lot of detail  &apls

vortext

All those little props are amazing! Can't wait to get a hold of 'em.  &apls

Love the back yards.

Considering a more northern European version of the back yards, without the palms ?

Dantes, noahclem, vortext: A big thank you to all!!!  ;)

vester: Thank you!! The props are grouped into families, if you take out the palm props they won't appear on the lots.

I need your opinion. First "real garden" props:

Vines and lavender. What do you think?

EDIT:

Some benches:

vortext

It's a bit strange imho the lavender is brighter in winter then summer, perhaps the purple could be brighter. The vines in winter look too dark to me, and during summer it looks a bit like fish scales, i.e. bit too 2d with metallic-y surface.  Does that make sense!?  :D

The benches look great though!

Lavender, Vines and Bougainvilleas. Bougainvilleas are perennial when planted in gardens, because they're watered all the year long.

vortext

Great improvements!

If by perennial you mean they have flowers all year long than that'd be due to a hot climate, not because of watering. They're seasonal in colder climates and if it happens to rain a lot as well they will in fact not bloom at all.  ;)

The lavender looks much better now, I think. About the vines/bougainvillea: Not sure if this is important, but the most fitting name for this wooden construction giving you a shadowy place in summer is "trellis", I believe.

The gardens are looking amazing!   &apls

noahclem

Wow, these gardens are really coming together excellently  &apls  The detail with the plants seems perfect!

romualdillo

vortext: Thank you!!! Well, I think the problem was that I live just too south. :D Bougainvilleas only lose their flowers if they aren't correctly watered. I had to investigate deeper about them to do a semi-seasonal version. ;D

11241036: Thank you!!! I thought the word was "arbor". I thought "trellis" was a structure for creepers to climb. (I did not know the real meaning of "creeper" until I searched for it  :P). Anyway, I did a fast search in Google and perhaps both are possible. My English is not very good.  :)

Simcoug: Thank you!!!

noahclem: Thank you!!!

Semi-seasonal Bougainvillea and Hydrangea (colour variations to come if everything is fine)

What do you think?

vortext

ha yes, bougainvilleas will drop their leaves during a dry spell - in that regard they're deciduous!  :D The winter version looks great!

Hydrangea look nice as well, though if possible maybe refine the flowers a bit, atm it looks like a uniform ball while it actually consist of many small flowers with rather small petals. Then again maybe that's too fine detailing to properly display ingame.

I've tried adding more "noise" to the texture, but the flowers are just too small to see them properly.

Added colour variations to the bougainvilleas: pink, orange, white and fuchsia.

What do you think?

Simcoug

I think they look wonderful!  From such a distance, you wouldn't be able to see much more than colored blobs for the flowers anyway, and I think you gave them enough definition that they don't just look like round circles.  Awesome work here!!
