I thought i could post some pics of my hometown where i was born and where i still live.
Bremerhaven has a population of about 115,000 people and lies on the Weser Estuary, where the river flows into the North Sea in Northwestern Germany. (I hope the pictures are not too large)

Statue of Johann Smidt the first Mayor and the founder of Bremerhaven. In german terms the city is very young, it was founded not before the year 1827.

The city theatre (sorry for the picture quality)

The German Nautical Museum, it shows the history of ship building industry from the early Medieval age until today.
Really worth a visit if you are interested in that stuff.

The so called "Radar Tower" it's the highest building of the city with a height of 112 meters.
There is an observation deck (the part where the rounded windows are). From here you have a great view over the city and the adjoining counties and since the landscape is very flat, you can look as far as over 50 Kilometers on a clear day.

The beach, well it is more a raised sandy area. I took this picture in early May and it was already warm enough to have a sunbath only the water was still very cold. ;)

This large construction side is called Havenwelten, it will contain a large hotel (shape like the Burj El Arab), a climatelogical museum and a shopping mall in mediterrean style when it is all finished.
Currently the shape of the hotel is almost complete i'm going to show you some new pictures of it in the next time.

The Zoo, you won't find lions or tigers here, it has merely animals that live in moderated and arctic and antarctic climate, like penguins, ice bears, arctic foxes, sea lions and so on.

The Auswandererhaus (emigration house) an exhibition about the people who left Europe in the 19th and 20th Century to start a life in America. Bremerhaven was the most important place from which the emigration ships have started.
In the background the Johann Smidt Memorial church.

The new marina

I hope you like the pics, i'm going to post some more pics of the city center on the next update.  :)

I know Bremerhaven, I've been there some while ago. Pretty nice. I love the culture and cities near northsea and coastline, anyway. And Bremerhaven is a good example. (Even if I like Bremen a bit better &ops but there's nearly no city as beautiful as Bremen, all over the world ;))
I can search or take some pictures of WOB as well, but first I want to follow this thread well. So keep on posting images  :D
Visit Vorsfelde.

Thanks everyone. Here's a couple of more. Most of them taken in the city center or in the adjoining city quarter of Mitte (Central) Don't mind the sky views, the first two pics were taken in March, the other ones today:

The Columbus Center (a shoppingmall and two residential highrises)

The Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Maritime research. This building has a very special design, if you look at it from above it has a shape like a boat. This is a well known and famous institute, it also runs polar expeditions it the arctic and antarctic regions.

An updated pic of the Zech Hotel, as you can see most of the blanket has been already removed.

Pic of the beach, today it was too cold and windy

This is one of the most expensive apartments in Bremerhaven, the shape of the building should remind on a ship.

Hochschule Bremerhaven (can be translated with Second degree University).
It has two faculties, first one is Maritime technology, process enginerring and ship operation technology, the second one is business economics, digital media and logistics. The university was opened in 1975 and has been continously expanded over the years. This is the old original building.

These are the new complexes...

Karstadt, a famous department store chain in germany, and this is our only bigger department store.

This area is for pedestrians only, cars and actually even bicycles are not allowed to drive here.

My old school ;) (Oberstufe = 11th to 13th grade)

St. Josephs Hospital, it has been renovated in the past few years and has a now a glass front.
