Very trivial but I hate missing props. :) It's not in any of the listed dependency files.

Lot is the CSX Civic - Palace of Justice.

Prop ID is 0x073D4581:

It's pretty little, I've no idea what it's supposed to be:

Anyone have any idea what it is and in what dependency pack to find it?

Incidentally, I have some other lots which are missing props in that range... 073D45xx... if I could at least find out who was assigned this ID range, it will definitely narrow down the search!

MOD EDIT: Try not to double- (or triple-) post, the modify button is there for a reason  ;) - Fred

Answering my own post... I was able to use SC4Tool to give a clue with another lot (NDEX DA DuSelle Tower) that was also missing a prop in the 073D45xx range. One of the files it tried to scan for with that lot was PEG_PierSet1_RESOUCE.dat. This lead me to find PEG PIER SET Volume One on the Simtropolis Exchange. After installing it, the missing prop was fixed for that lot.

I then opened the CSX Civic - Palace of Justice lot, and the missing prop was fixed for that as well! The prop ID 0x073D4581 is "PEG_Effect_Pigeons_5-21" in PEG_PierSet1_RESOUCE.dat.

Yes, it's that  damn false dependencie i always get on my own lots too!!! ?=mad)= &dd

SC4Tool is extremely helpful for lot makers to document their dependencies. Taking the time to find and provide a link to each dependency on the net is another story. :) I have a lot of respect for Lot makers who take the time to do all that work.

Glenni, that is not a false dependency since it was a specific prop ID that was used.

That could confuse some lot makers... there can be some false hits for files, which can happen if files are merged into megapacks or other reasons... but if SC4 Tool's "Analyser/Importer" function is listing actual ID's under "Props" and "Textures" as "Not Found" with red x's, that means an actual prop was used that couldn't be found in any file in the plugins directories.

Lot Makers should load their lots into SC4Tool's "Analyser/Importer", then check the ID's under "Props" and "Textures," as it does list the actual file in which it found each prop and texture. That should be able to give authors a complete dependency list. As I said, it takes time to find where to download every dependency and provide a link.. gotta respect the time it takes to do all that! :)

There are two main causes of false dependencies:

1. An overriding mod that fixes/replaces/disables in game content

2. A file that adds to an existing building/prop family.

When making lots, I only load the files I need to get the task done, nothing else.
Other Lotbuilders should do the same.

I quite agree , Jan, however the main culprit for these type of problems is Pegasus who mods Maxis props then includes the modded prop exemplar in his dats. For that reason I never make lots with Pegasus' dats in plugins unless there is something very specific that I need.

Well, in the case of the pigeon effect, it was labeled with "PEG", so it should be clear that it's a custom prop. It's not a problem to include modified exemplar files into a DAT, but they should be labeled properly, so you don't use them accidentially. Generally speaking, you should clear your plugins folder before opening the Lot Editor, so it only loads the necessary props. This will also reduce the startup time of the LE greatly. The new SC4 Startup Manager v3 also supports development profiles, so you don't even have to move around your files anymore, but simply select the desired (sub-)folders, and then hide the rest with a single click.
