The growables/ploppables are great to have on their own, but I really like the idea of the functional clinic. The building itself fits right in, and the fire escape (though I thought it looked a bit odd sticking out like that on its own) fits in so well with that alley way.

Thanks for the links, but unfortunately they give me 404 errors... but yeah, I can see lights on all BATs except the ones I make...but I will figure this out. I'm not going to let a little thing like BAT brownouts keep me from doing this, especially when lights add so much to a building.

Jon that looks real good... I soo cant wait to get ahold of them....

Matt:  Thanks!  I still wanted to give options for both commercial zones so you can fill the demand you need most that way.  The back porches took a little bit of thinking to make sure I didn't box people in actually!  It's still possible if under a couple situations... but it will have to do.

Pat:  Thank you!  I'm hoping several things won't be much longer.  Give me another week or two and there could be anywhere from 3 - 5 releases from me if all goes well.

Well... I don't know if this is "worth showing" or not yet, but I'll throw it up here anyway.  I'm much happier with the smaller version of this lot than I was earlier, but I don't know.  I have a feeling I'm not going to like this size no matter what happens, so... here we go...

There are cars in back as well as people hanging around out front... I just didn't time the pictures right.  Here's the issue with this lot size:   It's just big enough that it needs some trees and such to fill the space, despite the cries I can already hear of "too green!"  The only other option is if I make it 6x2... but that won't leave much room at all on either front or back (less than half of the space you see on the sides, actually)  So there is the dilemma.  Since I'm happy with the first lot and only making this one for other people, y'all tell me which of those two options you would prefer.

That's a fantastic clinic. There are far too few choices in small town civil service buildings.

figui

wow, the clinic and the growable and/or ploppable looks really nice in-game

i do like how the swan majestic is looking so far, but i thought it was siting on a smaller lot (i'd like so) so as roads run very close to the building.. both in front and back and on both sides..
i like it anyway..

i would prefer to see a 6 by 2

everything looks amazing :)

My first thought after seeing the front of the building, was that it should be closer to the road. If it works (if the textures are available) I think it would be interesting to see the front steps right up against the road (keep the hedges) and that could perhaps squeeze it onto a smaller lot. Also, one thing that might be interesting to try is to move the building to the corner of the lot, using the other side as the access to the back (I have no idea what that would look like, but I'm trying to think of a way to balance the building on the lot if the position is changed). Interested to see what you'll come up with.

The pharmacy/clinic looks great. I hadn't really envisioned the building being four stories high but hey, I'm not doing the BAT therefore I have no right to be fussy. The style is very interesting, especially the balconies in the back and this certainly will provide some visual variety to the game. Being able to "hide" a clinic in a typical downtown setting will be great. The Maxis clinics just don't do it for an older downtown streetscape and there is far too little variety in the clinics available on the STEX/BSC LEX. Keep up the good work!

CalibanX:  Thank you!  I'm glad you like it.

Figui:  Thanks!  The hotel is on a smaller lot, maybe just not as small as you had hoped.  I can bring the streets closer on the front and back, but the sides cannot really change.

Sim Shady:  I'll give 6x2 a try, but I'm afraid it will look dumb with the streets so close on the front and back, while not close on the sides.  Thank you!

Matt:  Thanks!  I will try moving the building against the street and see what happens... that might work out.

Simdad:  Thank you!  I hadn't really intended to make the clinic a large building either at first.  I started this building without knowing what it would be, and then thought it looked pretty good for the clinic idea.  So it kind of came about a little backwards I guess.

Nothing to show at this point.  I've had some things come up that will throw a pretty large wrench into the week... so there may not be much progress after tomorrow.  More on that tonight when I get a chance to do a proper update.

Couple things to look at this time.  I made a few small changes to the 6x3 lot to open the front up a little more.  It also helps to kind of hide the sides a little too.  ;)

In other news... I tested the 6x2 idea.  It fits, but there isn't room for much else at all.  I could maybe add some things to the sides (although I have no idea what they might be), but that would honestly be about it.  So what you see is pretty close to the finished lot if I keep this idea.

I may not get too much more done this week.  I was originally scheduled to leave town on Sunday for some corporate "fun"  %wrd  and seminar type stuff.  However, I now have to leave town on Wednesday for a family issue before going on to the seminar thing.  So... where I planned on being gone for a couple days,  I will now be out of town for a week instead.  In the meantime, since this was unexpected,  I have a lot to cram into the next day and a half to be ready to leave.  So it may be a little quiet here.  Don't worry... it won't turn into another disappearing act!  ;)

Talk to y'all soon,
JB

JB: I'm just noticing that this building is similar to JasonCW's Mary Hotel... Were you inspired by this?
I am absolutely in love with it.

Sim Shady:  Thank you for your vote.  I've kept all three lot sizes.

Bluebeard:  Thank you!  And I'm glad you like the lots.

CalibanX:  Thanks for your comments here and on the LEX!

JosefBrisko:  Thanks!  I noticed that when I started the brick textures.  It wasn't intentional, but they do bear a spooky resemblence, don't they?  I was actually inspired by a much newer building in Fort Worth, Texas.  I liked the form a lot and thought it would look good with a historical spin.

Here are the "final" versions for all three lot sizes.  I'll leave final in quotes in case something really doesn't work, but for the most part I consider them finished.  They are in testing as of tonight so any changes at this point will be minor.  Anyway... on to the pictures:

6x4 is at the top... 6x2 at the bottom.

Have a great evening, all!

Pretty spiffy. The combination of the three really works. I also like the tables on the side of the building... a nice extension of the restaurant. Good to see the brownstones out (now I just need to find some time to play with them (and the game generally... law school keeps you busy). Take it easy and I hope the family thing and the seminar work out well.

JBSimio

Pat:  Lol... I'm glad I could brighten your evening!  :D   Thanks!

Matt:  Thank you!  I can imagine learning how to speak as redundantly and convilutedly (is that even a word?) as possible takes lot of time!  :D  Hopefully you'll get a bit of a break soon.

I ended up with a little extra time before I have to leave the house.  So... just for kicks, I thought I'd prove that no project has gone forgotten.  This doesn't mean it will be ready anytime soon because there is still a long ways to go with this, but...

Does anyone remember Westlake Academy?

As I said, this is still in the very early stages and many things could and probably will change.  But I thought y'all might like to see what's been happening with this.

Stay tuned... there is one more update to come before I leave...  :satisfied:
