&apls I love your stone and brick buildings even more than i like your wooden ones. This one looks great. The only thing that I might change is the second story lights on the mel's side. They kind of overpower your delicate neon lighting from this view.  If the second story on the mel's side were dark, it would draw more attention to that well-done sign.   &Thk/(

I can't believe Mel's is ready already!!! That was really quick and an excellent job to boot.

In response to the question re: the stone texture used on Mel's facade, I believe that it is a local sandstone; very similar to that used on a lot of the older buildings in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Hmmm, I feel a P.E.I. BAT series coming on (slaps himself back to reality).  :D :P

Fledgeling: Thanks. I like htis one too. You may be right about the lights. If I had it to do again I would try taking them down just slightly. It's not worth the trouble though for such a minor detail.
Simdad: Ready and if you check the LEX you'll find it's now released to boot! I have to confess I'm not that familiar with PEI. I have been over there twice (once on vacation and once to visit a friend) and I never spent much time in Charlottetown. I'm hoping that my job with the federal government, if it continues past my graduation, will let me get over there on a few site visits to properly explore. If that happens maybe you'll see a few PEI bats :)
Pat: Thanks. I did hear that Corner Gas has now made it to the US. I'm glad you're enjoying it. It's pretty much the only decent thing CTV has ever made. CTV's usual tactic is to buy whatever American shows they can and just air them. I don't know what happened to make them strike out on their own with Corner Gas, but someone over there must have recognized a winner.

Just  a quick note, incase you missed it, I have released both the Family Vision Centre and Mel's Tea Room. You can find them both on the LEX. The Sovereign Building will becoming tomorrow when I get around to it and then who knows, there just might be a surprise later in the week.

Hi Spa. Just wanted to say I love your buildings - have all of them. Also I have downloaded Mels and the Sovereign Building. Just a quick question that is slightly confusing to me. In your readme you state spa essentials is a dependency but in the recent revised BSC Essentials It says to take out spa essentials although it is not listed in BSC Essentials readme as a file that is included. If you can follow the above - do I reput Spa Essentials back in or can I safely leave it out?

All three of your recent BAT's are greatly appreciated. It's fun to see local Maritime content available to play with in the game. Keep up with the good work!

P.S. - I was just joking re: the "P.E.I. BAT series comment"; I realize you are still a student and have a lot of commitments on your time. You have done a great job so far presenting Maritime architecture to the community.

Existenz: Thanks for the heads up. I have tested BSC essentials and it does include my queries. I must have missed the memo that my stuff was going to be merged into the all purpose essentials pack. I recommend you use BSC essentials and delete spa essentials to reduce clutter and avoid duplication. It shouldn't affect anything. I'll update my spa essentials uploads to direct people to BSC essentials instead. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Simdad: Thanks. Keep your eyes on the Lex as there just might be a surprise from me this week ;)

Just a quick blurb today. So I have released my stockpile onto the stex and there might also be a surprise waiting sometime this week.... Of course with my other bats all finished up and released I'm back to picking at what's left. I'm down to just CBC, my barely started Jellybean Row set and Attica. This evening and yesterday I picked at Attica and it now is more of a complete shape. Below is where it's heading.

Not much to say right now. I'm going to vary the windows on the back a little bit more (they were just copied from a single front window so the variation isn't there yet). Right now I'm thinking for the back a set of double doors for the centre, a garage/loading door to one side and a window to the other side. I'll update again as this moves along.

Sim Shady

looks very nice.  You have quite a collection on the STEX and LEX for us to enjoy  &apls

cammo2003

For a moment there I though I was looking at two front variations until I looked closer.  :D

Looking excellent so far.  :)

simdad1957

Wow, where did the Grand Falls Federal Building come from!! A fantastic BAT and I love that it is a Canada Post building. Post Offices have long been ignored by the BATting community and this project definitely fills a need in the game. 10/10 &apls

Sim Shady: Thanks. My collection is really growing at a fair pace!
Cammo2003: Almost but not quite. The back really could also be the front so it's understandable.
Simdad: Hehe. I batted it while I was in Calgary back in September and kept it in reserve for the Devotion birthday celebration. Just a small surprise :) I liked being able to include a Canada Post office too. It's beyond me but if I knew how I would have made a Canada Post mail truck to go with it. Maybe someone else will do that one day.

Today's update is about Attica aka the Brander Morris Building. I have changed the name from Attica to Brander Morris after coming across Starfish Properties website. Starfish owns the building, as well as several others along Halifax's Barrington Street. The company has photos of the building and a brief history on their website. It's from their online description that I found out that Brander Morris is the buidling's actual name. Whatever the name, it's now done. Check it out below.

With Brander Morris finished, I'm down to just two works in progress. I don't know yet whether I'll feel motivated to tackle either my Jellybean Row set or the CBC so I might start something new. Video Difference on Halifax's Quinpool Road is kind of appealing and has been requested by more than one. I might just try my hand at it. We'll just have to see.

 Very nice, its simply stunning. Its so sad on how most people pass over the small gems to download the biggest, flashiest, sometimes mediocre quality skyscrapers just because they have a bias for tall buildings, even though they may not fit in smaller cities. Hello, we like our game to have interesting buildings through its development, not just in stage 8. Thank you for making my cities beautiful at ALL stages of growth....

Speaking of which... can you make some 1X2 stone C$ buildings, too?

quackmofro

The W2W buildings with the backside parking is very reminiscent of small downtown areas, which I really appreciate. I'm usually big on rural, underdeveloped towns in my regions, so these buildings are a nice touch. Keep up the great work

That's true - the big statement buildings get all the attention while it's these little gems by the likes of spa and jbsimio that really help give a city it's character.

Fledgeling: Hey you're preaching to the choir. We have way too many tall buildings availbale in the community. Cities are made up of a whole ton of smaller buildings. The tall ones grab the attention but the rest actually fill in the urban space. I actually don't plan on ever making any C$. I find that office, Cs$$ and Cs$$$ demand is always so great that making anything Cs$ is just a waste of time. Sorry.
Quack: Thanks. It's what I was going for.
Zero: Thanks and I humbly agree.

So it has been a little bit since I updated. The end of term rush is on at school so my time is fairly filled up right now. Still I have been picking at something new. It's a little bigger than my usual stuff and its a residential building. It's the Lexington from Halifax. Below is a photo of the real life building.

The Lexington is a luxury condo located on the corner of Cunard and Robie Street, just across from the Commons. It's a fairly new building and, I think, it is one of the more interesting buildings that has been built in Halifax in a while. Lots of interesting geometry and it takes advantage of its setting on a prominent corner. The only thing I'll fault the designers for is putting it up above grade. That really wasn't necessary and just separates the building from the street.... although that might have been exactly why they did it!

Anyway below is my work in progress.

Still plenty to do. I need to sort ouf the roof, put on the ground floor and add stuff on the balconies. Texturing obviously needs to be done and I suspect it'll take a while with all those windows. I'll update again on this one when I can.

JBSimio

Wow Spa!  That looks great.  There's so much visual interest with this one.  All those angles must be a lot of work to deal with!  I have to let this one sink in before I can really comment any more than that!

And now that Marc commented, I could side with him and go on for days... but that's another topic entirely!  :D
