QuoteCan you give me a sneak peak on the area between the appartment buildings. I just wonder what you plop there.

I'm not sure what you mean Nik-Nik. All that I have between the buildings is streets and roads. I am using Jeronij's street mod if that is what you mean.

Here is a few pictures from Downtown, the CBD of Summerhayes. (obviously, I haven't finished working on the city, but I thought I'd show you a bit of progress).

Very nice Jen, only one tiny flaw, that small house with white fence on the second picture, between the yellow row building and the big square one, it looks awful there. An alley or another row building would fit better there. ;)

jen_p

That's actually a commercial building that Cycledogg has made, sort of a house-turned-shop, but now that you mention it, it doesn't look right where it is.

I thought it was an house because of the fence ;)

I agree, although it might be the janitor's place  ;)
However, if Jen_P said it is a shop....

Please.

Great update Jen.

About those spaces between the appartment buildings. I mean here:

At the two big circles I notice not a road but some space I believe, or am I wrong?

The corner circle, is that a subway entrance?

I'll take my camera next time I go to Anchorage, we have similar situations in several places downtown.  You get used to it- I wasn't so taken aback by the house, but the fence in front would clearly not be in a downtown area.

Anyway, great stuff here, and over at Sho-whatever it is (I haven't spelled it right yet- I give up).  Thanks for sharing your work with us.

Nice work!

Are those growable American Bank landmarks, by the way?

Ok, let's see If I can remember everything I want to say.

Firstly, emilin, they are growable America Banks. There are too many of them in my city at the moment. I can't remember where I got them from, I'm afraid.

dedgren, we have businesses here that used to be houses, particularly on main roads (who wants to live on a main road anyway) and they don't have fences out front either, just parking and a few token plants or something.

Now, Nik-Nik, I have some answers for you. And pictures.

This is a view of the area from a different direction. Between the two buildings that you pointed out is a carpark and a bit of grass with some trees. These trees are not supposed to be there, but due to an ID conflict, some of Cycledogg's trees appear instead of something else. Since I like the look on this lot (although probably not very accurate) I have left them there, others I have fixed in LE.

The next pic is from the opposite direction and shows the spot where you asked about the subway station. From the looks of the original picture, I think it was one of Cycledogg's little houses, it has since been replaced with one of Don Miguel's low wealth rowhomes.

I hope I have answered your questions, though the answers are most likely not as exciting as you expected.

I have some more pictures from the same area too:

Really cool Jen ... I like it ... those low wealth areas looks quite realistic.
Work, the annoying period between bike trips.

Amazing, I love the old school buildings, giving it a New York/Chicago feel. I also like how you blend the small, soon to be bulldozed small buildings with the newer, all mighty tall buildings. Great job.

Jen- I noted a bit ago I'd look around in Anchorage for examples of little houses that have stood as the city grew up around them.  There's a lot of that up here- here's three.

One block from 6th and A Street- the "center" of the city.

That's City Hall (the bluish-green building) in the background.

7th and C Street.

Each, as noted, is right in the center of town, all within a few city blocks.  So, it's certainly not unlike RL to see such things in your (wonderful) cities.

Random. Is. Good.

Great MD you have going here.  I really like cp's houses, hopefully they will be availible soon.  And your low wealth district looks awesome.  Great pictures and great job!

Thanks for all of the comments everyone, I haven't forgotten about this thread. I've been very busy this week. Last night I went to see Eric Clapton in concert and tonight I'm going to see Little Britain Live, so maybe tomorrow I'll be able to fire up SC4 again.

Dedgren, the pictures that you took are exactly like CP's little commercials, except for the fences. I started a new city today which will probably have a few of these in it.

Well, I've been playing this region again lately. I haven't got much to show yet but here's what the region looks like at the moment. It's a bit messy and unfinished right now. I have big plans for the region, whether or not I actually manage to get them realised is another matter.
