Hello everybody,

if I want to make a park- or path-set compatible with the BSC Parks (interchangeable base textures), I read that I need to change the texture IID to [0x4da4460*]... My question is, if you allow to use that ID range freely.

In other words, can I make a set using that ID (for my own textures) and release it to the public?

I just want to be clear what you are asking here.

There are 2 parts to a BSC compliant park:

There is the single base texture, with the IID you posted (I assume it's that IID, I didn't check)

There are a series of overlays that form the grass.  These all have seperate IIDs

Are you wanting to make a park that will use the BSC base texture to match the rest of the park series?  If this is the case, you can either use the overlays from the original set or create your own, ensuring that they line up at the boundary.  If you make your own you need to use your own IID range.

Or

Are you wanting to make an alternate base texture to replace on the entire BSC Park series?  If this is the case you would need to use the IID of the originals and make sure you label them as a replacement for the BSC textures.  I don't see there being any problem as this, but you would have have to ensure that it's clearly labeled.

It might pay to drop a PM to Barbyw and Geoffhaw who are the texture keepers for BSC to check they are ok with this.

If you are wanting to make a BSC park compliant base texture and you want to upload it anywhere, you MUST state that it is a replacement for the BSC variable park textures. You must also use the 0x4da4460* set of IIDs. If you don't do this then there will be a texture conflict in users' plugins and we do not want to have to sort out problems.

Yes, the latter is my purpose - I make a lot of park stuff, and people always ask me if they are compatible to the BSC Parks Textures... so in the future I would like to make them like that...

Sure, I would make that absolutely clear and give detailed instructions (as in the BSC Parks) on how to change the base texture 'on the fly'.

So I take it that you do not object to the use of the 0x4da4460* set of IIDs, as long as it's properly done and documented.
Thank you very much for your replies! :-)
